So I am up in the air, I have a soloist/guitarist coming for our ceremony. What is everyone walking down the aisle to?
Acoustic guitar version of here comes the bride. It was romantic and fingerstyle, so it was a twist on an original. DH REALLY wanted me to walk down to that. I was whatev so I did what he asked
I was thinking of possibly having him play/sing you and me by lifehouse as i walk down the aisle?!?!
Any views on that?
i'm having dodi li, it's a traditional jewish song. still traditional but a lot of people won't have heard it.
sadly i'm not up on pop culture, so i can't help you.
I figured we could start walking down the aisle during the first chorus of you and me....so the music can build to that part while he waits for me to show up in the door :-) AHHHHHH dreaming of June!!!
The girls and I are walking in to "Your name" (originally by Paul Baloche) I am coming in at the guitar solo part.. it will be intrumental only just electric, acoustic and a keyboard. We are making it up :) I love it!
Here is the song but it wont sound like that because we are making all the changes.
Edit: this is probably a better version..
@ AshCo - My friend walked down to that song! It was great!
Gives me goosebumps. Did she have live or recording?
I'm just interested on how it would sound with JUST guitar andsinging.
My FBIL is a talented piano player, and will play Canon in D for the wedding party to walk down to (this is my FH's favorite song, and was one of the things he was most adamant about in planning our wedding! Also, very meaningful for him to have his brother doing it, as he grew up listening to his brother play it.)
I will walk down to a rendition of the traditional bridal march - the arrangement was put together by Jonathan Cain, the piano player for the band Journey. I cried when I first heard it and knew I had to have it. FBIL will play this too.
Here is a link to the song on youtube - note, our version will be JUST piano, none of the other instruments:
We did Canon in D - I've wanted that for the longest time, and it always makes me emotional for some reason. That was probably one of the few traditional things about the ceremony:)
I'm doing Canon in D, but only because our pastor won't let us have anything remotely secular. I'm not uber attached to Canon in D.
I am walking down the aisle to "Make Me Whole" by Amel Larrieux
Anoushka Shankar's "Breathing Under Water"...

I actually went down the aisle with "So Beautiful" by Musiq Soulchild. I think it was perfect for us and many people asked what the song was afterwards.
Iron and Wine's "Love and Some Verses" for me, we are hoping to have our friend play his digeredo (sp?) for the wedding parties. I think that drone would really clear the space and set a calm, etherial mood!
Omg, I loved what we walked down to...

"At the Beginning" from Anastasia - it was on keyboard like this version.
I'm walking down the aisle to the Vitamin String Quartet version of "Only Time" (originally by Enya).
@sara - i LOVVE that enya song. I have to go listen to that version now!
I'm walking down to Mark Knopfler's instrumental "Storybook Love" from the movie The Princess Bride -- it's my fave movie and it really fits with the overall feeling of the chapel we're getting married in as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPw7rKK_e8Q
I want to do something moderately ridiculous that suits our personalities such as Don't Stop Believin' by Journey or I Believe in a Thing Called Love....
I am walking down to the instrumental version of Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. I know a lot of brides do that song but it is the only one that made my cry so that is our choice.
I'm planning on walking down to a piano instrumental of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
@Emshaw - I love your choices! I was considering those songs as our entrance into the reception.
i'm walking down to "the luckiest" by ben folds. i tear up almost every time to hear it when i think of seeing FH!
I have no idea what I am walking down the aisle to - but I always thought Don't Change by Soulchild would be great.

I'm PROBABLY walking to "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach. It just sounds happy. And, while I'm well aware of how corny this sounds, to me, it sounds like love.
My girls and I walked down to "Somewhere over the rainbow/What a wonderful world" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ltAGuuru7Q
It was such a perfect moment when this song started playing, it was beautiful hearing it float over the air while I prepared myself. I still get a little choked up when I hear this song.
Anyone heard of the band The Album Leaf? There is a song called "Another Day" and as it played on my itunes the other day, all i could think about was walking down the isle to it. I'm such a baby for that song. If you haven't heard it, google it!! It's amazing.
The wedding march from Sound of Music. :) Minus the "how do you solve a problem like Maria" part. :P
am i the only one who is reminded too much of graduation by 'Pachebel's Canon' to ever walk down the aisle to it?
@krissycake: LOVE that song!! I can totally picture a wedding party walking down to it!
@Twista: I have always wondered what that song was called! LOVE IT!
i'm still not for sure about what i'll be walking down the isle to...it's a toss up between
"look into the air" by explosions in the sky
"wonderful tonight" by eric clapton, but the vitamin string version
or having my brother-from-another-mother play a song for me to walk down the isle to. he's an emerging artist who has had his songs featured on "the hills", "laguna beach", and other fun stuff. needless to say, he's AMAZING. he's playing a song at the wedding for sure, i just need to decide if i want him to play me down the isle or in another part of the ceremony.
the one thing i am TOTALLY positive about is what we'll be walking back down the isle to after we're pronounced man and wife...
"you make my dreams come true" by hall & oates!
one of the first dates for fi and i was a "pirate day" on his boat with friends (complete with eye patches, rum, and blow up swords & parrots). i am pretty much a control freak when it comes to music, but since we were still in the beginning stages of our relationship i let him hook his ipod up to the boat's stereo. i was BLOWN away that he had a bunch of the indie rock goodness that i love...and then just when i couldn't think we could be any more of a musical match made in heaven, HALL & OATES came blasting through the speakers! i just about pooped my pants when "i can't go for that" came on his ipod and we both knew the words. we both agree that hall & oates were WAY ahead of their time, aside from the rockin 'staches ;-)
fast forward to this past year when the movie "500 days of summer" came out and the hall & oates song "you make my dreams come true" song was used for the most awesome scene in the movie. i don't want to spoil it if you haven't scene it, but you can watch this clip and still not be spoiled...

can't you just picture that song after a silly groom kisses his even sillier bride and they come back down the isle as married silly people?!
