What foundation is everyone using for the wedding? and also what is everyones "everyday" foundation? I am doing a bit of a search around for good brands.
i love shiseido advanced hydro-liquid. www.makeupalley.com has alot of reviews for make up.
NARS firming foundation. I don't even need firming foundation, but it's the only foundation I have ever found that came in my exact skin tone (pale, peachy, slightly pink) and didn't make me look ghostly pale or fake tanned.
chanel mat lumiere
i need to find one for photos though, because the chanel has spf in it! no good!
Bare Minerals, I used to use MAC but its studio makeup so its really tough on your skin. I'm trying to use natural stuff and drink tons of water so I have AMAZAZING skin like a mexican porcelain doll lol.
when I wear foundation, I use bobbi brown skin - love it. But like fiftyfootbride said above, I can't wear it for bridal because it has SPF, so I am testing out others. One I really like so far is LM oil-free; my BF's cousin is a MUA and did her makeup for her wedding and used LM foundation, she looked AMAZING!!! I also second makeup alley - it's been my go-to for anything beauty.
@peanut- i've heard good stuff about the smashbox and makeup forever. next weekend i'm going to buy the makeup forever foundation for photography. we'll see how that works. :p
Thankyou all for you imput. I am a makeup artist but am looking to change up my foundation for my wedding, just trying to gage peoples thoughts about certain foundations so i dont have to go test them all out lol
Peanutlovespumpkin, right you are, it does need to be Spf free or it can ruin the wedding photos. Thats the challenge i believe trying to find one without it, most foundations do nowdays! Guess it is good skin care is a prioriity but its hard to find the right one.
I use Mirensse but was thinkin of going mac, but am now researching the foundations all you beautiful bees have suggested. This site is so great, all girl power and girls helping each other out. You guys are great!!
Someone explain to me why SPF in makeup is bad for bridals? I feel like I am missing out on something
@fifty: I know, everyone is all abuzz with MUFE but I can't handle the heavier foundations, I feel like I am suffocating! I will definitely have to go in for a trial at Sephora though, just to see what all the fuss is about - and who knows, maybe I'll be able to actually wear the stuff for a few hours without freaking out. The Smashbox primer is supposed to be the best; I've never worn primer before, so I think I am going to start out with that one ... keep us posted on your experience!
@miss Yap: SPF reflect light, so in flash photos your face looks like 12 shades lighter than your skin, and kinda washed out :(
i have the smashbox primer and *love* it. also, i use the clinique pore perfecting something-or-other that you put on after primer, and it feels like air, but makes pores go bye bye. oh, and it makes your face impervious to sweat. i'm not sure how healthy that is for all over, but for forehead and cheeks/nose it's fantastic.
the spf is bad because it reflects more light and makes yo' face look whiter in photos.
Ah! Now I know! Thanks.
But anyway, I favor BareMinerals. Or Prescriptives.
I have heard of precriptives was just looking at it on a cosmetic site, what is it's coverage like? The spf thing isnt a widely known fact, i had a few trials done and they all used either mineral makeups or spf foundations, but i just let them do there thing, but i do find it reflects a little bit, but in saying that, its each to there own and my photos will be in black and white, so prob not a huge issue anyway
Where would i find out about Smashbox? Heard of it but havent seen much of it in australia
Is sephora a web site or a shop? Im in australia but im happy to buy it off the web from america if needed. The exchange rate may hurt a little but may well be worth it
i use the smashbox tinted mosturizer and love it. not heavy coverage at all but good for evening out skin tone with a light feel to it.
@fifty foot bride- i use make up forever powder foundation for everyday, does it really have a different product for photography?? that would be awesome
@kellibella- sephora is a store but they have a wonderful website: http://www.sephora.com/
Smashbox for everyday and wedding day. I also bought some dermablend liquid foundation that I found at Ulta for any unexpected breakouts on the wedding day and I have to admit- I really like it better than most concealers I've found.
I use Chanel Teint Innocence Compact in Gentle Ivory. Yes... how pathetic am I... the lightest shade they have, which is perfect for me, lol. Sometimes I wish I could tan without burning, lol. But I suppose it is perfectly fine to have near flawless Chanelified skin, hahaha!
@emerald- I'm the same way. I'm always the fairest shade of anything, and usually it's still a little too dark. I have to ghetto-rig things light enough. :p I've given up on being anything but lily white.
It drives me crazy, because I wish some color would come out of it, but why tamper with what mother nature gave you, lol.
=)
I went through a phase where I just HAD to be tan. HAD TO. It was right when the whole Mystic Tan came out, so I'd do that about 4 times a week. I was ORANGE. It was terrible. I went from having the coloration of Snow White to looking like Snow Orange.
I love Laura Mercier; the Silk Creme foundation is great and I've heard good things about her tinted moisturizer too. I'm extremely pale and the cream ivory shade is actually light enough for my skin. It has pretty long-lasting coverage and, most importantly, it doesn't get orange!
I'm a Mary Kay addict! I've tried other products over the years and everything else makes me break out. They have a new mineral foundation that I just love, love, love!
I have scars from the shingles on my face and filling in the "crater" with liquid foundation and then covering my face with the mineral foundation made it almost disappear on my wedding day. ROCKSTAR!
One of my bridesmaids is a Mary Kay Consultant (and I used to sell it as well) so she did my wedding day make-up. I thought I looked hot.
I've been using Stila Illuminating Foundation - the liquid formula doesn't have SPF. It's really lovely, unless you want a matte look.
Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer! If I want a little more coverage I dust over it with my Bare Minerals foundation.
Lol you are hilarious, scissors. Snow Orange! Wonder if they will put that one out on Disney, hahaha! xD
Like lab I like the MAC Studio Fix powder. I need a little more coverage in order to even out my skin tone so mineral stuff doesn't work for me.
I'm a bare minerals girl! LOVE their foundations. I used to wear lancome but it felt heavy...then I went to clinique and thought the same thing...I was always having to reapply powder with both. But BM is amazing, it stays put! Though I didn't know about the SPF thing...maybe I should look into an SPF free make up for the wedding day!

i have just started using makeup forever HD and i love it! especially since i am so pasty white, like we are talking see through here. and you cant tell i have foundation on when i wear this!
i keep hearing good things about clinique's pore minimizer instant perfector... jsut might have to try that.
I recently bought Smashbox photo finish foundation (it comes in a compact). It's full coverage, so I don't apply over my whole face, but it does wonders for smoothing out my skin tone around my nose where I am a little too pink.
Not sure what I'll do for wedding makeup, I'll probably get my makeup done at a salon since I'm not sure what photographs best.
I just started using Clinique about two weeks ago and it has made my skin almost flawless. I used to wear Bare Minerals and loved it... but Clinique has done beautiful things for my skin. Obsessed!
Stila Natural Finish Oil Free Makeup is awesome! I know they aren't the most prestigious brand, but man do they make great foundation. I have used three different foundations of theirs over the years and LOVED them all. It feels nice on and looks fresh and dewy. I finish with a spritz of Makeup Forever Mist & Fix for a very natural look, just me only better. It is light and lets my freckles show through which I love.
