What is everyone planning to do with money the received for their wedding? Is anyone paying off debt, putting the money into savings, investing, etc?
We are in the process of buying a house so I have a feeling some will go to a new bathroom (ours is really outdated) and the rest will go into savings.
I hope I don’t seem greedy and I guests are required to give wedding gifts, but my bro just got married and got a very good amount so I am assuming that the family will do the same for me.

We will be using it to offset the amount we had to pay for the wedding.

Spending money for the honeymoon, and some new furniture. Anything else will go into savings towards buying an apartment someday.

We’re hoping we don’t get cash. Everyone in our families and social circles buys a gift from a registry, so it’s unlikely anyway that we will have to deal with that. We aren’t comfortable at all with the idea of accepting cash or gift cards. If we do receive anything of that nature, we’ll decide when the time comes along.

-Any possible debt from the wedding will come first. Our parents are helping, but not paying for everything (understandably.)
-We’ll have to buy a second car because we’ll be moving out of the city.
-Any little bit left will go straight to a rent fund. We’ll continue to be broke college students, just at a graduate level. Luckily rent will be less, since we won’t be in the city anymore. But this means losing our jobs that we have now.

We are having a belatedd honeymoon, so we plan on using it for that.

Putting it into savings…we’re moving either shortly before or shortly after the wedding so I’m sure we’ll use some of it it to upgrade our furniture and decorations and stuff.

Paying off the honeymoon, completing what is required from the registry, and if anything left, putting it into our “Japan Fund” because we are hoping to move overseas for a year or so for teaching positions.

savings… we’re going to ttc soon, so we’ll need it!

Probably partial honeymoon but the bulk into savings to help save towards our first home. I’m not registering for anything so I’m hoping my friends and family feel generous 🙂

We’re going to be two p!$$-poor grad students living on only $45k combined, with my $100k of student loan debt to pay off. Enough said, I think.

Depends on where we move to. If we move to somewhere for school, we’ll try to use that + parent money for a downpayment on a house. Unless it’s Boston, in which case we’ll use it for rent. Or just stick it in savings for later on down the road.

I’m actually hoping that we get mostly cash. My fiance is finishing up school, and hasn’t really worked for a “business” before… so I want to get him a retirement account started, savings, etc.
We got a house almost three years ago now… so we are going to be mostly saving! We’ll splurge with all the gift cards 🙂

- Wedding: January 2011 - Vintage Villas
We’ll probably use some of it for the honeymoon (his parents are paying for most of the honeymoon, so we’ll probably just use some for shopping, eating out, etc.), some of it to buy anything on our registry that we really want but don’t get, and we’ll probably save the rest. We’re hoping to buy a new car shortly after the wedding, so we may use some of the money on that.
