Oh yes this is definitely the catch cry of the TTC ladies – our bodies all go whacky when we are TTC! I don’t have super long cycles I used to be around 28 days since coming off BC but as soon as we started TTC I’ve had 24 day cycles and 35 day cycles, spotting for up to a week before AF, heavy AF on the last day of AF (no tapering off – one day I’ll be flooding (sorry tmi) and the next completely gone) AND worst of all the constant heart burn and nausea in the lead up to AF. I don’t even bother symptom spotting any more because every month has been different hehe

It definitely plays with the emotions… AND yes you do become super aware of other’s pregnancies 🙂

i hope things even out for you soon I just wanted to reply and let you know you aren’t alone sooooo many of us complain about this very issue on the POAS thread 🙂

My body just decided to skip a period the month before TTC, then in May it showed up a week late… Starting TWO DAYS before the wedding! It was bad. But we got our BFP the next month!

@graygodess20:  Ugh tell me about it. This is only our second month TTC and already I hear you girl. Last month for the first time every I had a 43 day cycle, 43 days!!! Normally I am 32 days. It was agony and by the end all you can do is pray that AF will show her ugly face so you can move on.

I know you are trying the old fashioned “natural” route but have you considered OPK’s and perhaps charting? If ever there was a non-believer and someone truly against charting that was me until this month. I have found that the small action of taking my temperature has given me a slight edge on my body and returned a little control that I so desperately needed to keep sane. In combination with OPK’s I feel like even if we don’t get pregnant I don’t feel like I am hopeless, I can see what I happening with my body and cycle.

Good luck and here’s hoping for a BFP soon!

I was just thinking this today! I am usually 28 days like clockwork! Currently on CD30/11DPO and had a BFN 2 days ago! Argh! Is it because we are constantly thinking about it that our bodies f#$k with us like this?

YES. When we originally decided to TTC, I skipped two periods with some mild spotting, BFN the whole damn time. I had no idea what was going on down there, but at the time I didn’t have insurance.

I still don’t know what happened, but I’m hoping it wasn’t anything like PCOS. Once we decided it wasn’t the right time after all, everything went back to normal.

i suggest using opks, they’re brilliasnt pieces of kit.

As for the spotting, that can happen prior to and after a normal cycle, just because you spot on one month, doesnt mean you will the next 🙂

Sorry for the off topicness, but I’m just shocked you guys can track your schedules so well. Mine change so crazily, its hard to keep track! I’ll go from 30 days, to 24, to 32, to 20 any anywhere in between. Its insane.

My first cycle was unusually long (by 10 days) with weird spotting. Haven’t been on hormonal BC for years so only thing I can think of that caused that was stress of charting + opk’s + monitor. Have noticed more spotting pre periods in later cycles which cld be implantation that failed, but who knows. Had a scan and everything else appeared normal.

@graygodess20:  Some women are allergic to sperm. Before you freak out though I think you should look into charting. Its the only thing that can give you more insight on what’s going on… though you’ll still have times where you’ll look at your chart & think “WTF, BODY?!”.

Right now you don’t know if your spotting is from O, implantation or breathrough bleeding (which would mean your cycles are annovulatory). If you had a chart to match up with it you’d at least have an idea of where you are in your cycle…

I can relate.  The first cycle we attempted on was 48 days instead of 28.  Had never had a late period before that, but we had just returned from vacation to Australia.  The jet lag is a known cycle delayer.  TTC took forever.  We had sex EVERY day for a LONG time.

@graygodess20:  I think tracking your cervical mucus will be a HUGE help too.  You’ll see it eventually, realise it’s a good day and then a couple of days later, after you confirm O you’ll just be so relieved. Then its just 2 weeks of anxiety, wondering if it took.

Just because your cycles are long, doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong. The thermometer is going to be a great help, I promise!! If you need support, I know the charters thread has a lot of veteran ladies on there. Its a place where friendships are made ;). Good luck & happy charting!!
