So, my birthday is Sunday and Darling Husband bought my present yesterday. He won’t tell me what it is, other than it’s shiny and nice, and he’s hidden the damn thing so well that I can’t even find it to shake or prod it and try to guess.
Anyone else hate waiting for birthday surprises (but love the actual surprise)?
Speculate! What could it be? I think it’s probably an elephant, earrings, or a bear trap (one of these things is not like the others…). Also, what’s the best/worst b-day gift you’ve ever received?

@Mrs Grape: I’m in the same boat. My birthday was yesterday but I have to wait for my surprise until tomorrow. I’m being adult napped for dinner, drinks, relaxation and “whatever”. So excited! I hope your present is something sparkly!
My worst present? From an ex, I got an exercise bike. Yeah, awesome.

best b-dday gift ever what when my Fiance took me to see the RENT broadway tour (with the original main characters) in Charlotte and I actually got to meet Anthony Rapp (he plays Mark in the original cast). I’d been a HUGE rent-head for YEARS and even had Anthony Rapp’s personal memior. I brought my RENT book and the memior and he signed them after the show. I was floored!!Meeting the OBC from RENT was one of my “bucket list” items, and he literally made one of my dreams come true. It was EPIC. I’m getting chills just thinking about it!

oh i hate surprises! i actually like it when i am surprised, but i can’t stand the suspense if i know a surprise is coming!
worst present has to be last year–hubs and i had decided not to do presents for awhile since we didn’t need to be spending money on non-necessary things, but then he had decided he really really wanted a new, schmancy fancy camera, so i got it for him for hannukah (it wasn’t a surprise–he ordered it online on my credit card). which meant the no-gift rule was off the table. my bday’s in january, so right after he got his camera but i hadn’t gotten anything for hannukah, and then he still didn’t get me anything. i was upset, since it was like he’d forgotten to make an effort. he tried to re-gift me a gift certificate he had to a store i never shop at, which made it so much worse! haha. then there was a new rule–no presents for him for a year, but i still get presents 😉

@Megan316: lol and aww…
My dad always gave my brother the advice “If it plugs in to an outlet, do not give it to a woman as a gift.” I think he should have said “If it plugs into an outlet OR IS AN EXERCISE BIKE…”

My birthday was Monday. Darling Husband and I decided long ago not to do presents for anything throughout the year, but to save them all up and take a trip each winter, usually somewhere warm. However, he surprised me on Monday by writing in my card that this year, we’re going to go to Europe. So excited!!
@Mrs Grape: The first image i get when I type “shiny and nice” into google is a Firetruck, so I’m going with that 🙂

Oh man, I’m all over the fire truck idea.
