Love shack – the B-52s
C+C Music Factory – Gonna make you sweat/Everybody dance now
Cha Cha Slide
Every breath you take – The Police
Any to add? There are some bad wedding songs out there!!!

We axed the chicken dance, the Macarena, any rap and r&b, mambo number 5, and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head. We favored more old school rock and roll so we asked the DJ to go way light on the Top 40 stuff.
ETA: we also said no YMCA and absolutely no country music.

we are family is a definite no no. celebration by kool and the gang. ymca. love shack. journey. cupid shuffle crap.

Nada, we’re ready for anything!

Oh yes! I gotta add Journey and Mamba No.5! Yikes!
Also thought of Who let the dogs out!!! AHHH NO!

I’m interested to see what people say; I don’t have anything on our don’t play list other than the chicken dance. And I tell you right now… if that sh*t comes on I may have a total bridezilla moment (although quietly, with the DJ). FI kinda wants it, so I may specifically tell the DJ that if he tries to request it, he has to come talk to me!

Any line dance type of songs such as: electric slide, cha cha slide, chicken dance, etc
Post # 10
hips don’t lie by shakira
party rock anthem by lmfao
i think that was it. our dj knows us and the type of music my family likes, so we really didn’t need to make a very long, detailed list of what we wanted/didn’t want to hear.

@engleman10513: THANK YOU for reminding me of Jessie’s Girl! I HATE that song and it always seems to come out at weddings.

Grease Remix and The Macarena! 🙁

I just don’t want any cheesy pop. In an ideal world, I would stick to rock and alternative only. However, I have a nasty feeling that people are going to start requesting things like Steps. Oh well. I never planned on dancing much anyway…

So far our “Do Not Play” list is:
Baby, by Justin Bieber (FI really hates this song)
Every line/group dance. Overplayed songs from the 70s and 80s that always pop up at weddings. Overplayed Top 40 (Black Eyed Peas, Neyo, Taylor Swift, etc.). Getting a DJ was so difficult because I want FULL control over the playlist.
My FI desperately wants “Apache”, so I’ll let him have that. 🙂

I’m adding more as I think of them:
I will Always Love You – Dolly Parton/ Whitney Houston
Everybody (Have Fun Tonight) – Wang Chung
Baby Got Back
