Photojournalism is a term that gets thrown around a lot by both clients and photographers alike.  Most assume that it just means candid unposed photography, but the true meaning is the art of telling a story through the use of images.  When we shoot weddings we are shooting them with the intent purpose of telling the story of the wedding day.  Approaching a wedding in an entirely photojournalistic manner is very difficult though, because most clients and their families are expecting a certain amount of traditional photos mixed in.  Traditional wedding photography relies heavily on posing where the subjects appear very aware of their photo being taken (i.e., the smile at the camera sort of thing).  A journalistic approach would be the opposite, the photographer is there documenting moments as they happen and the subjects don’t appear aware of the photographer.  That doesn’t necessarily just mean that it’s a candid free for all, there still needs to be a focus and story telling direction to the imagery.  Most modern wedding photographers blend photojournalism with some traditional shots.

I did a quick google search for you in regards of this style of photography. I really like this style of photos. It’s very honest and at most times, emotional of some sorts. Like “catching the moment” sorts of photography.

@Elolith:  Just keep in mind that the photos showing up in this search are just ones that the photographers have titled with “photojournalism style wedding.”  Some of them are actually not at all photojournalistic photos.
