The one thing I remember from other’s weddings is beautiful views or cool venues. Hopefully no matter what goes wrong at my own wedding I can provide a nice scenic view for my guests. You’re right though, many details are forgotten. I don’t remember anyone’s “colors” or cake flavor or guest books.

If something stands out, it’s usually not for positive reasons. Most wedding blend in together and that’s fine because they all have the same basic recipe. I wouldn’t stress too much on making your wedding memorable, just focus on what you’ll enjoy and want there and people will remember your wedding as being a reflection of you. That’s memorable enough.

cjm18 :  I just remember the things I personally enjoy. One couple had their dog at the wedding, and it was sort of the “theme” of a few things. Like a sticker on the wedding favors, printed on the welcome bags. I love dogs, so I loved it!

I also remember having so much fun playing cornhole at another wedding!

I’m food oriented, so I tend to remember more what I ate if it was really awesome.  I agree with PP.  Focus on what you will enjoy and plan a well hosted event, and it will be a good time.

Many years ago I witnessed the marriage of my two friends who graduated with degrees in theater.  Needless to say they were both very creative individuals and they did not disappoint with their fun loving, personal vows.  I’ll never forget how moving they were and the giggles and tears they instigated.  It was great!

My high school friend’s bride did the sign language for a song in church which was beautiful…receptions are all kind of meh.

I totally agree with the setting!  You can have the most beautiful house in an awful neighborhood and no one is admiring your house..LOL

I am really into details so unlike most, I tend to remember specifics.

I remember the dress of one bride that was the perfect fit for her body and personality.

I remember another bride using the theme music of a movie series (at that time) to walk down the isle (SO original!!)

I remember the breath taking flowers at one wedding and a fruit covered grooms cake from another (mouth wateringly beautiful and tasty!)

Recently – the vocalists in the service blew me away.  Everyone was talking about them.  I also remember this couples save the dates.

I did go to one wedding some 15 years ago that was so extravagant – I think I remember almost all of it..even the invitations .LOL

The wedding that always sticks with me was my college roommate. I was her MOH. They are goth, always have been, always will be! The wedding was on Halloween in a botanical garden and everyone was in costume. I was Betty Boop with a long red dress, slit all the way up my thigh. The venue was lit with candles and fairylights in the trees. Their wedding clothes were custom made, black and red satin. It was unlike anything else I had seen before or ever since. And it was so beautiful and suited them perfectly.

Our sign-in “book” were vinyl records that we loved.  They’re hanging in frames with their album covers in our family room now!

We also used unlit votive candles for placeholders/nametags…there were customized matches on the table and when everyone sat they lit their candles, so it was table decor too! (Had a photo booth for favors)

Ooooo I have a bunch.

-A s’mores bar. That was REALLY exciting in the moment. (Full disclosure I was a little drunk…)

-The Bride was Chinese, and for the reception she put on a more traditional red dress. I gasped when I saw her because it was just stunning. Her walking out in it is always the first thing I remember about that wedding.

-There was a really good live band at one and they played Call Me Maybe just when that song was huge. They had been playing a bunch of oldies and the younger guests weren’t really into it, then they whipped out that song and everyone at the wedding, even the grandparents were dancing and it was just the most delightful few minutes.
