    Can’t vote. I wouldn’t even have spent a thousand.

    Including alterations?

Also you have big jumps in budget. Originally budgeted 1500, but would not under any circumstances go over 2k.

@musician32992:  Before alterations, my max budget was $1000. I scored a great deal on a sample gown that is a Casablanca Couture, regularly around $1600 and I paid $950.

I went into shopping with a budget of about $5,000 to $6,000 with the hopes that I would spend less, but I would allow myself to go over budget if I absolutely loved something. I was incredibly lucky to find a dress I absolutely loved that was also a sample sale. So I got a $6,000 dress for $1,500.

honestly if i could go into a store get exactly what i want with veil and no alterations needed, i would spend up to 3500 ish… unfortunately you can’t do that… all the in store dresses need alterations, you have to pick a veil that never matches the colour or beads, they try to sell you sashes and tiaras and shoes (oh my!) lol i went the china replica route and am spending about 1200 on 2 dresses and a custom veil. so far i’m happy (we’ll see when i get the dresses how happy i am lol)

When I went dress shopping this is how I explained my budget to the consultants: I’m really comfortable at $1,500, could be talked into 2k, and am not afraid to ask my dad to help me pay for it if the right one costs more. Haha. That being said, no matter our budget, I don’t think I would feel comfortable spending more than 5k on, ultimately, an article of clothing meant to be worn once. I am already spending a LOT for my area and budget.

I wouldn’t have spent over $500, and I ended up spending $200 at a charity gown sale.

Oh I went COMPLETELY past my budget & I’m spending more than I ever imagined. That’s what happens when you try on a gown that you can’t afford!!!! So I’m now going with a $7,000 Vera Wang.
