I think yellow cake with the right filling can knock your socks off.
That said, I had a poppy seed with almond frosting that was mindblowing. ;)
Honestly, I've never had a really memorable wedding cake. I've had a lot of good cake, but nothing that I specifically remember as the best flavor.
I recently went to a fall wedding where they did spice cake and a cream cheese filling - DELICIOUS!
My sister's--amaretto with amaretto buttercream icing! Delicious and light!
Ours! It was chocolate, but soooo moist and tasty, and it had buttercream icing...mmmm.
@Sunshine We have lemon raspberry too! Our tasting was amazing also. We have this flavor for our large layer, other layers marble. Can't wait!
@sunshine ours is lemon with raspberry and then one layer with passionfruit...super yummy :) I also got a suprise (shhh!) groom cake that is chocolate with cherry filling...mmmm!!

Our bottom layer is vanilla cake with 2 layers of lemon and 1 of raspberry
Middle is chocolate cake with raspberry icing
Top if vanilla cake with 2 layers of raspberry and 1 of lemon.
Should be good!!
Grooms cake sounds yummy too!
bottom layer was almond with berry filling
middle layer was peach schnapps
top was tiramisu-nummy!
I'm not a big fan of cake (the frosting makes it too sweet). We're planning on just doing a couple different flavors of cheesecake.

I haven't been to many weddings and all the ones I've been to that I remember just had like a yellow cake which isn't that exciting.
