It seems like every time I read a post about moissanite I see a different type mentioned, amora, FB, enhanced, unenhaced, asha etc… What is the difference and what is best, Im looking to get a 1ct equivalent. Also for you bees that have had your moissys for a while how have they held upm where did you purchase etc? Thanks for any input!

I think “best” is definitely going to depend on your personal opinion. To me, I think the Amora is the best, also called an enhanced moissy. I like that it is whiter than untreated or unenhanced moissys because I am very color sensitive. FB is also a treated moissy, although not as white as the Amora. I have had mine since May and am absolutely in love with the stone and wouldn’t dream of picking anything else, including diamond!

Ok, I don’t know much but here’s what I do know. Enhanced means any moissanite with a treatment done to the stone to make it whiter. The two enhancements currently available are Forever Brilliant and Amora, Forever Brilliant is done by Charles & Colvard and the Amora is done by Better Than Diamond (I believe). The Amora enhancement voids the Charles & Colvard warranty because it’s not a treatment performed by them, but many believe the warranty is practically useless because it only covers the color of the stone (which has been proven not to change). Unenhanced means any stone not enhanced by the previously stated treatments.
If you are color sensitive, I would suggest an enhanced moissanite, but if you’re looking at a 1 ct it might not matter as much. In general, the larger the ct the more color the stone will show. The color also depends on the cut of the stone, with round brilliant and cushion being the whitest.
My ring is a 2.2 ct cushion cut moissanite, but I haven’t received it yet. If the stone has too much color for my taste, we will return it and get an enhanced stone.
ETA: The Amora enhancement is considered better because it whitens by 4-5 grades instead of the 2-3 that the Forever Brilliant whitens.
