Besides marrying the love of your life, and having your friends and family with you, what is the coolest or most unique thing/detail about your wedding? What are you most excited about?
Me -- Our videographer is doing a same-day edit and I am super excited about that.
Fun question! I think the most unique part of our wedding will be that we are getting married in a flower shop. Not only should it be beautiful, but I suspect that we will be brought back to our wedding day everytime we walk into a flower shop and smell all the flowers!
Another something cool will be our feast... My SIL is the manager of the most popular restaurant in the area, and although we weren't able to have our reception there (having it at a beach house up the road), the head chef is catering our dinner at cost. The food he makes is amazing -- all fresh seafood done in the most delectable manner. We are getting food that will knock the socks off our guests at a rock bottom price!
We're getting married in the little town where my fiance was born in India. It's remote and completely beautiful, up in the Himalayan Darjeeling Tea District. Our venue is on the site of the first Catholic seminary east of the Suez Canal. You can read all about our planning adventure on my blog.
I'm leaving for India a month from yesterday to start getting everything in order for the wedding! I can't believe it!
MsB....who is your friend from the top 4. Um...because I LOVE that show! haha!
It is so hard to choose just ONE favorite thing about our wedding...other than the fact that we are just trying to incorporate all of our favorite things..whether it be traditional or not.
We are the FIRST to get married in the building that we are using. It is used often for wedding receptions, but not weddings. :)
We are not using traditional music for the ceremony... :) No Canon in D, or the Bridal March tone...
My fiance is playing all the ceremony music (he's a pianist). He is going to record it all ahead of time from our 'studio' at home & have it playing during the ceremony.
We're also folding 1500 origami roses for all of our flowers. They look soo unbelievably real.
We are having our friends who are in an Irish trio band play our ceremony music. We're having a photobooth at the reception with a basket of silly props from the Dollar Store. And our cake toppers are going to be sculptures of us modeled after our Miis on Nintendo Wii, complete with representations of my actual dress and fiance's tux.
The coolest thing about our wedding was eloping on top of the mountain during a ski trip. Low stress, little planning, great photographer.
The coolest thing about our reception (in Sept) will be that 60% of the guests will be hard core swing dancers and so we get to celebrate our wedding doing the thing we love the most, surrounded by other people who love it too.
KateMW - I LOVE Seaside!! We were seriously considering getting married there. I'm jealous!! Seaside and Polebridge(where miss cherry pie is getting married) are two of my favorite places on the planet.
Cool things about our wedding - a four course tasting menu with local, organic and seasonal foods, the bluegrass band has a washboard player, we're having PBR on tap, we're not registering and encouraging friends to give to heifer international instead.
I am really excited about our planned entrance for our reception. We are distracting our guests with a personal "movie trailer", while we sneak in through the back door and onto the dance floor. When the trailer ends, our guests will be prompted to turn to the dance floor, where we will have our first dance.
our buffet menu was personally designed by my hubby (he's one of the chefs in the kitchen at the country club we were at), including lobster tails, mac and cheese, prime rib, and a sushi bar! to top it all off, we had a surprise dessert room with cheesecakes, chocolate fountain, gelato bar, and candy buffet in the corners and a humongous eiffel tower ice sculpture in the middle to commemorate our engagement in paris :)
Livvie~ Isn't it just the best place ever? It even smells better than other beaches to me. :) It was the first trip we took as a couple, where we spent our first anniversary, first place we took our daughter. We hope to buy a house there soon.

posted by beachbride1008 32 posts 2 months agoI can't pick one, but here's my 3 coolest things:
1. My relative who made it to "top 4" on Idol will be playing at the wedding. We both thinks our friends and family will enjoy dancing to him :)
2. We're super excited that the wedding takes place just after Christmas and many of our friends who live away will be home and in great spirits.
3. We are asking guests to donate money to charity instead of recieving traditional gifts and we're going to distribute the money to local charities.
