My facebook is inundated on the regular with friends “sharing” blogs. I mean anything is better than a useless status update I guess…but what gives?
I have to scroll through my feed to skip blogs about a one-sided point of view with catchy wording and pictures/gif’s or better yet QUIZZES that tell you “You belong with Ryan Gosling” “Your color is Red”!
Should it be a thing? I don’t even know where i’m going with this, I just find I have to “hide” the multiple friends that only post these things on a daily basis more often than in the past.

My fb feed is mainly news posts, blog posts, or citizen journalists. That’s how I use it. I have over a hundred Web sites on my rss feed but I probably read 40/50 blog posts a day. Those stupid quizzes usually only come from old high school chums so I don’t see that many. I warn all new people who want to follow me on fb that it’s how I use it so they can feel free to take me out of their feed if they want.
Block the people you don’t want to see. Generally I don’t think people even notice when you take them out of your feed.

tksjewelry: Yeah I noted above that i’ve had to start doing that. If it’s not silly quizzes or fashion/food/overly opinionated blogs about how to raise your child, 10 things to not say to this person, 20 ways to do this better, etc… it’s just people sharing random crap.
I just don’t get the new fascination with them that’s all.

I don’t think this is new. My feed has mostly been people sharing links to things they didn’t write for years now.

BellaDee: They don’t really bother me, but by the 15th friend taking the same quiz, it does get old. Sometimes I prefer them over cryptic “I’m so sad…” posts but no elaboration as to why or the even better passive-aggressive “This isnt directed at anyone but…” and then its a 25 line rant on you know whatever people feel criticized for or get on a soapbox about, but don’t worry its not directed at anyone or anything…
I prefer to know what color I am, or that I belong with Ryan Gosling over that nonsense most days.
