I just ordered a lava lamp.
A little context. My 9-year-old Godson decided that he really wanted one for his bedroom after seeing one at a friend’s house. I had no idea these things were still “cool” — but he seemed really enthusiastic about it when telling me his list of ideas via Skype.
I also wanted to order something fun and a little wacky as a stocking stuffer for my husband (he just got a new job and has literally nothing on his desk). So I thought this fit the bill:
Found it while searching online for the perfect lava lamp. It creates a “mini tornado” inside when you shake it.
What are the most bizarre gifts you’ve purchased so far?? Share pics if you can 🙂

@MrsEdamame: Hahaha these are funny gifts. My main gift for my SO for Christmas is this…
So that would be a Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly game! Haha! Let me explain… When I first met him SO was this too cool, preppy type while I was total geek / emo girl. And on our first date, he paid for everything out of his Nightmare Before Christmas wallet – and I knew I was in love! Now I realise he is a HUGE geek and loves all the same things I do, he just hid it a lot better back in high school! And he was really sad when that wallet broke, so I’m getting him this!
I’m also buying my Future Mother-In-Law (I call her Mum though) this teatowel which she has had on her “wishlist” for almost a year now and it is only $15!!! She has chickens and LOVES them… weirdo right!

Oh I think I take the cake here.
My moms boyfriend buys us all the most ridiculous and unpracticle gifts ever (ie: cats holding hands in a circle around a candle (used), a 4inch high bird cage that no bird couLd fit in, a cassette of an old man telling stories about cats, walrus teeth etc etc etc).
So this year Fiance and I decidEd to go to China town and find the most hideous gift we can for him and pretend we are so thrilled to have found it for him on Christmas Day. We got him a woven basket and filled it with horribly ugly things that we are going to tell him are Xmas tree ornaments such as a pin cushion ball that has strands of lace hanging off it in a loop (I was bent over laughing at this one in the store, Fiance was serious and on a mission which made it even funnier), some little snowman that looks like its from the 80s, a Chinese donkey with rhinestones, and a cat made with ugly fur and glued on eyes. I should take a pic of this crap for you. He better like it.

My SO requested a magnifying lamp– he’s into miniature sculpting and he needs one to see what he’s doing! I just ordered it yesterday.
The website won’t let me download a picture, but here’s a link if anyone’s curious: http://www.microscope.com/omano-magnifying-lamp-225x-led.html

Question: What do you get for someone who has lived for 92 years, hates everything and is generally unpleasant to be around?

Definitely this dog snuggie!!! We got it for my FI’s childhood Shih Tzu who has Addison’s disease and is chilly all the time (: It was $2.00 at Liquidation World (basically the Canadian version of Big Lots!)

Darling Husband has been wanting the long-ass scarf the 4th Doctor from Doctor Who wore. I actually learned how to knit while trying to make the damn thing, but got bored and moved on to more interesting projects, like baby blankets for our dogs.
I found this on ThinkGeek and ordered it for him.
He’s the kind of guy who likes to buy himself presents, so every Christmas, Valentine’s, and birthday, he gets strict orders a month ahead of time not to buy himself anything.

I bought these microwaveable slippers. Its for a gift exchange at DHs work and they often get silly stuff. (also known as a white elephant gift, yankee swap etc)
