My fiance and I are having a civil ceremony for just immediate family, but we still want to have a beer drinking reception with dancing after. However, it is almost impossible to find a venue that will allow you to rent it without a food minimum, which is a problem since we are not having a dinner. Tips please?! I’m desperate!

A bar with a private room maybe? I did this for a birthday party and they wouldn’t LET us order food to go toward the $500 minimum. I had about 40 people and we met it!

Look for places that aren’t your “typical” wedding venue. Art galleries, museums, old school houses, barns, college event halls, etc. I’m sure you can find something that lets you bring your own food and drink!

Are there any local breweries? My fiance and I are considering having our reception in the event room of a brewery.

We had a pig roast the day after the wedding and I can assure you that there was beer a-plenty.

We got married at the North Bank Park downtown Columbus- They allow you to bring you own food and alcohol. The place is absolutely beautiful!
