I was reading a thread and anniversary gifts came up. Some of them were funny and got me thinking about gifts FI has given me.
For the record, FI isn’t the greatest when it comes to gifts, so I have a few funny stories but the BEST one I have is my last birthday (my birthday is in Nov) I was complaining how we didn’t have a Christmas tree for that upcoming Christmas. Well he took note of it and on my birthday I came home from a long night of going to school/work to find a HUGE box in my living room…….it was a 6′ christmas tree he bought for me for my birthday gift hahahaha. It was a sweet idea and made me laugh.
So what gifts has your SO given that either made you cringe or laugh? Let hear it!

My now fiance gave me a…spatula…for Valentine’s Day last February. At the time, he was my boyfriend, and he’d measured my finger (in November) and everything. I cried…mostly because I was annoyed at myself for thinking he’d propose, because he HATES Valentine’s Day with a passion. Ugh. It was a sweet present, though! He’d replaced one my mom had given me with a stainless steel version. It’s like an antique basically, from the 50s or something.

I found this really funny and super cute: for our anniversary he gave me an edible arrangement LOL.
I was very surprised! That was pretty dam cute.

When my DH and I first started dating I told him I always wanted a tool box. You those cute pink ones for girls. Well for X-mas, he got me a huge tool box from Sears that had every tool in the world. I still dont know what half of them are. I didnt have the heart to tell him that the one I wanted cost about 300 dollars less and only has a hammer, screw driver, measuring tape and a handful of other items. lol I still want one even though he has a garage full of tools.

@mrsSonthebeach: lol! thats cute, did he just randomly buy it for you or did you mention it to him?
@peachacid: haha thats a neat gift. I love experimenting in the kitchen so I wouldn’t mind if FI bought me something kitchen related.
@Artificial-Sweetener: I love those edible arrangements. They always look so yummy!

@Mrs.Jansen: lol thats sweet! I’m sometimes surprised that FI actually remembers when I say things like that….maybe I should start telling him I’d like a new car…since my Bday is coming up you know…..haha

@canyouhearmenow13: He chose it randomly and gave it to me on my 28th birthday in front of all our friends. At the time, it was the only thing he gave me, though later he gave me a giftcard while we were alone. It was cute, but also weird.

He gives me little trinkets all the time. He took his 11-year-old brother to a yard sale today and came back with a little Eevee (Pokemon, for those who don’t know) figurine from the 90s. He knows it’s my favorite so it was really sweet. I just have no idea where I’m going to put it…

Fi is great at gift giving but one year he got me lingerie! For X-mas! huh!

DH sucks at gifts. What he does is actually very sweet though. See, I once told him some stories about how I used to love to play with ear plugs and how my dad used to bring me home candy in his shirt pocket every day when he got home.
Okay so a couple months ago DH gets a job at a factory and he comes home one day and is all “hey, do you want to look in my pocket?”
I, natually, looked at him like he was a creep and said no. But then he said “well I got you something.” I looked in his pocket and there was like 3 sets of ear plugs in there. Lol.
But the thing is he just keeps on bringing more. I don’t have the heart to tell him that I’m just not as fascinated by ear plugs as I was when I was 6. I Just throw then out after a couple of days. I don’t mind if he keeps doing it, it’s cute 🙂

In my family, stocking stuffers are always small silly items, like gag gifts, so that’s kind of my expectation when I go into a Christmas stocking. FI apparently didn’t get that memo, because when he filled my stocking last Christmas I pulled out things like shampoo and nail clippers. He was so proud of himself and kept saying, “It’s so practical! You will use all of these things!!” And of course I did use all of those things, but I still found it hilarious.

DH is actually really good at gift giving. The strangest thing was that one year he wrapped all of my presents in baby shower wrapping paper. Apparently he just grabbed “something that looked girly.” Yeah it had baby bottles and rattles on it but he was oblivious.

He gave himself nipple piercings for me. Haha, I wasn’t too impressed.

My FI is really thoughtful, so he’s gotten me some atypical gifts like earplugs (i seriously cannot study without sterile silence) and heavy-duty muffs that construction site guys use to protect their hearing.
The weirdest one, however, was a children’s book called “Who Pooped in the Park?” from when he went to Yosemite. LOL
