So the title kind of says it all. I love this hairdo but I have no idea what is going on. I think it might be a braid down the middle and then “weave” the sides in and anchor them on the braid. Any clues would help! The lady doing my hair has said she won’t consider doing any of the pictures I bring in without step by step instructions.

Find a new hair stylist. A good stylist doesn’t need step by step directions. I actually took this same exact picture in to my stylist and she was able to copy it beautifully.

You need to find a new person to do your hair then. That is absurd….unless it is a friend doing your hair for free. If this is a professional, they shouldn’t need step-by-step instructions.

There’s no particular name. I’m a hair stylist. I think it’s unprofessional of her to make that demand because thats part of her job is to figure out how to do certain hairstyles. It looks like it was set in hot rollers for volume. I don’t see where a braid would work in there. I bet they section the back middle of the hair into a pony tail leaving panels on the side the just alternated pinning sections from each panel. It doesn’t look difficult just a little time consuming..

Yeah, find a new stylist. She sounds lazy and probably incompetent.

Agree with the PPs! I’m a hair stylist too, and while I don’t do updos, I’d never dream of telling a client to give me step-by-step instructions on how to cut, colour, or style their hair! That’s why you go to a hair stylist – it’s our job to know those things! I definitely think you should find a different stylist for your wedding day.

Thank you I feel less crazy now. Unfortunatly I can’t go with another stylist because it is one of my mom’s friends. We are still paying her but it would lead to hurt feelings. My poor mom feels so guilty for recommending her friend.
I have a feeling pinning sections might be too free form for her.
*Deep breath* I have another trial run soon. This should be enough information and I’ll just ask if she can do it.
Thanks for the quick responces!

Sounds like a perfect excuse to get a new hairstylist! If your mom’s friend can’t do the style, then perhaps you’re off the hook?
