We’re going with $1,000 and will have approx 200 guests (of age), and will let wedding party drink all night free, so I’m not sure what the cost of that will be. The rest of the night will be cash bar.

We are trying to decide between:

A) $1,000 cap on the bar, so guests can get what they want until its reached, or

B) 2 kegs, 15 bottles of merlot, 15 bottles of white zin, cash bar if they want something else

Alcohol budget total? $800 and I think we spent just over $800 and received quite a few cases of beer left.

What that consisted of? We initially ordered 7 bottles of white wine, 5 bottles of chardonnay, and 7 bottles of red wine.  But this wasn’t enough.  Mostly because during the happy hour the venue ONLY served the wine (don’t get me started) so more had to be ordered for dinner.  I don’t know how much more was ordered but that’s included in the just over $800.

We also ordered 6 cases of bud light, 5 cases of hefeweizen, 2 cases of Mikes Hard party packs, and 2 cases of ESB.

I think we had 1.5 cases of Hef left, 2 cases of Bud Light, and .5 cases of ESB.  A case holds 24 bottles.

How many guests? 150 but just over 100 I estimated would drink.

My tip – Next to each guest I listed what I thought they’d drink.  Then I took that count multiplied by 3 to come up with my order.

We are budgeting $2,000 for 110 people. We have to go through the venue which means beer is $5.50 per bottle and house wine is $7.00 per glass. After the $$$ is gone, it turns into a cash bar.

We only did 1/2 the recommended budget due to $$$ constraints.

Our event planner quoted $18-40 per person for the entire night (beverages only).

@hibiscusgirl: I think that would be MORE than enough!

Figure about 4 servings per bottle so you’ve got 216 servings there. 165 servings per keg (according to http://www.kegbooty.com/beers_in_a_keg.htm) so that means 660 servings of beer. That’s 5 drinks a person if ALL of your estimated 175 guests are drinkers. And I’m guessing they’re not…so it’s plenty.

We paid almost $1500. for a full open bar for 85 guests for a 5 hour event. There were a few things the liquor store bought back as they were unopened (maybe under $200.?)

Alcohol budget total? Estimated between $1000-$1500

What that consisted of?  Full open bar during cocktail hour, open again after dinner. Our caterer and venue allows us to purchase our alcohol wholesale, so there is no markup. We really wanted to do an open bar but didn’t want it to break our budget, so this was a great option for us! I believe we can also pick which brands of alcohol (aka limit top shelf options, etc) to keep costs down.

How many guests?  Inviting 215, estimating 150-175 will attend

Alcohol budget total? Somewhere between $300 – $500

What that consisted of? Beer, wine, and a signature drink

How many guests? 200

It ate my original post!! Here it is again:

The reason why it’s so cheap is because we’re bringing in our own alcohol.
