That's a really cute story. :P
Ours is Tiny Dancer by Elton John, because it came on the radio in the car at a really pivotal point in our relationship when we were talking about the future and realized we were both in it for the long haul. Whenever I hear that song I still think about that summer night with all the stars... even though I live in the city now where you can't see any stars, lol.
aww I think your story is way better than mine lol
Ours has always been "Echo" by Trapt. Brings back a lotttt of memories about the summer we first started dating.
Our other song is "The Man in Me" by Bob Dylan which is going to be our first dance song.
Ours has always been "Stand by Me." It was on the first mix CD my FI ever made for me and was playing on the radio when he told me he loved me for the first time.
We don't really have one, per se, but one that always makes me think of us is Shiny Toy Guns, "You Are the One" as hubby sang it to me once when he was driving me home back when we were dating.

You are the one
You'll never be alone again
You're more then in my head - you're more
Our song is 'gangstas paradise' by coolio.. seriously unromantic.. but FH and I first met when this song was playing in the club. it was an 90s night. FH remembers it we didnt start dating till a few weeks after...
not sure how it happened, but "butterfly" by crazytown. And people look at us like "wtf???" when we tell people that's our song....
Our is "when you say nothing at all " by allison kraus. We didnt have a song until about October of 2009. I had never heard him play guitar before, so he started strumming that song.. he then turned it on his computer and grabbed my hand and started dancing with me. He told me this will be our song and we will dance to it at our wedding. lol!
Ours is "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. When my FH and I were dating, he said that one day when we get married, he wants our first dance song to be The Luckiest. I was totally against it at first until I really listened to it. He played it for me and it was like a light bulb came on in my head! It was perfect! We were both teary eyed and excited at the same time ;]
Ours is "come what may" forom moulin rouge- we met in high school and that movie was one of our first dates. then he sang it to me onece... a friend is singing it at our ceremony!
I think your song can be anything that is meaningful to you - it doesn't have to be sappy!
Ours is "They can't take that away from me" by Frank Sinatra, but we'll be dancing to the Frank Sinatra/Natalie Cole version at our wedding.
All our lives, we've waited for the other shoe to drop. He's had stuff go wrong, I've had stuff go wrong, it always seemed like something would either go wrong, or not meet our expectations. Suddenly, everything does and we're incredible happy. In retrospect, the song plays to that. No matter what happens, even if a whole closet of shoes drop, we've got each other.
Our "song" is Cocaine by Eric Clapton - LOL. He's big into music and classic rock. The first summer we dated, he was determined to teach me about music and how to figure out what a song was just by the guitar. Cocaine was the first one I could do that with. So, now we say its our song.
Our first dance song, on the other hand is "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne. Cause we truly are the best thing in eachother's lives.
We actually have a few, that all symbolize different points in our relationship, but the main one is Shining Star by the Manhattans. I have no idea how it happened, but it has some great symbolism for us (stars are a symbol of our fraternity) and even though it's super cheesy, I kind of love it. Plus, no matter what, if we're somewhere with a DJ I can go request it and he will stop whatever he's doing to come dance with me.
"Better Together" by Jack Johnson always brings us back to the first summer we dated. It was on the first mix cd he made me and it just sorta stuck. We are having someone play/sing it at our wedding during our sand ceremony.
Also "All My Life" by K-Ci & JoJo (lol) but I don't really remember how it came to be...we are using it in a slideshow of our growing up pictures/dating pictures at the rehearsal dinner.

I am usually one to never pin "our song" on a guy or anything like that but the FI kind of asked me a few weeks ago what our song was and I just well I dont know, I didnt think we had one. Well a few days ago we are driving around and "Nine in the Afternoon" by Panic at the Disco and it brought so many memories back from the "early days". When the FI and I started dating we were both working for the same mechanical contractor on a construction site in Washington state and my daughter was back in Oklahoma for 2 months with her dad. As a result of that we partied a lot and we would always spend the next day playing Rockband until like 2 pm and that song was our favorite to play. For that reason that kind of became our song because we both think of each other when we hear it. Its not a sappy sentimental song but its "ours" lol
So that got me wondering what are your guys's and why?
