there were many things I had to keep in mind when I went to pick out my bridesmaids dresses. There was price, size, color and one thing I didnt want to compromise on is that I wanted my girls to have a different neckline then my dress. That way my dress stood out that much more and was that much more specail. Luckyl I got that but, it was a struggel with all those things I had to keep in mind.
Did any of you girls have a struggel with the dress? and bridesmaids dress drama or hassels?
whats a big no no for you when it comes to bridesmaids and whats something you absolutly love?

The only thing I cared about in your list was that it wasn’t white. My BMs picked their dress so the only thing I asked was that it was a certain shade.

I wanted them all in the same color. I also asked that they all have the same length of dress, but that I could be persuaded otherwise. In the end they all ended up with long dresses, but different fabrics.

I’m letting my girls pick their own dresses (with a few rules), but they must be black, the right fabric, and NOT one-shoulder (mine is a one-shoulder, I don’t want any of my girls in one-shoulder gowns so I “stand out,” especially since I’m wearing champagne/gold and not white), and they must come close to the knee if not longer (aka no “club dresses,” my wedding/venue is SUPER formal so there is no place for super short boob hanging out clubbing dress anything). I’m allowing them some leeway with the color (gold and black or silver and black as long as they are mostly black) instead of plain black (unless thats what they want to wear)

I wanted them all matching, in maroon (definitely not white), short dresses with straps. I’m pretty picky 🙂 but I paid for the dresses so they can’t complain haha, and they’re flattering on all of them. Picking one, I voted for matching.

Glad to know im not the only bride who wanted her girls in a different neckline. =)

If I could vote for multiple thing I would, so I voted for long but also never white as well (but they already knew this).

i was pretty flexible with the BMs but Mr Weird_bunny expressed an interest and said he would like them in matching dresses. so matching dresses it was; colour, fabric and length. they were going to wear knee length 50s style dresses… then my sister got married and had her BMs in that. so we picked floor length instead.

@inukoro1177: well, my ‘must’ was my girls HAD to match, because FI is adamently opposed to mismatched bridesmaids (one of the few things he was really vocal about). so i voted for that.

My must haves are short dresses and non white.

The only thing I cared about was if my girls were comfortable. Their comfort was my priority. I didn’t care about color, cut, or style. They could have shown up in stripper heels and a wedding dress as long as they felt good in their skins.

Need another option on the poll. I had no must’s for my BM.
We went out with completely open minds and they chose something they loved. I picked up the tab. I hadnt decided on colours, themes, anything. They chose to have matching dresses, both liked the same one and it has all follwed on from those dresses. Lukily the shade of flowers I was seceretly lusting over matches. So you could say my BMs picked my wedding colours 🙂

I want them to find dresses they’ll wear again, which is why we’re giving the ladies in our wedding party free reign to choose their own dresses.

Another vote for having an “I don’t care” option in the poll. I asked MOH to choose a dress that made her feel fabulous. That was my only criterion.

I really didn’t care except that they looked like they showed up together. Unfortunately I didn’t have much faith in that unless they were matching, so I ended up having them all match. They all wanted long dresses, that was fine. I didn’t even care if they were white/ivory or not.
Even still, shopping for BM dresses has been the biggest headache of this whole wedding. Coordinating people who won’t answer emails about buying the dress, finding a sample to try on of a dress they like, then after it was ordered they say the color is discontinued, I have to come back and pick another, turns out the BMs prefer a different color than what I picked (none could go with me) so I called the shop back. Grrrrr.
Hopefully it’s all done, the info sheets are all turned in and I emailed the shop with the color change. I’m not holding my breath, I’m sure there will be something else! :-p
