The diamonds in my engagement ring are VVS2; centre stone is not a diamond.

My old engagement ring was a VS2 centre stone, sides were SI1 I believe.

Reflection off my camera made the diamond look red but this is the only good diamond shot I have:

My ring is an SI2, and the diamond is eye clean. We decided to go with a better color than go up in clarity. My ring sparles like crazy! I love it. Took this picture moments after my FI proposed!

I believe mine was actually an I1… So pretty heavily included, but as far as I can tell it is eye clean which is all I care! I love my ring 🙂

Just want to point out that one lab’s VS1 can be another lab’s SI2, so it’s quite possible you’re comparing apples to oranges. And then there are unpapered diamonds graded by a store gemologist. I have a VS2 and an SI1, both AGS, which is known for very strict clarity grading. I can’t see any inclusions in either diamond, nor can my daughter who has the eagle eyes I used to possess. And there isn’t a day that goes by without someone gushing over the SI1. Seriously.

doberman:  I completely agree with you mine is a GIA si1 which most likely would be graded differently with another lab.  For this reason I only wanted GIA or AGS.  We were buying online and I didn’t want any surprises.

Squirrelz15:  Your ring still grabs my attention every time I see it – I have to blow up the pic to get a better look! Love it!

Mine is an SI1. It has a teeny carbon pinpoint that is hidden under one of the prongs. And, actually, I was the only one who even saw the spot, even when the diamond was loose in the store. The jeweler and DH both saw it once they looked through the loupe. I guess I’m “blessed” with an eye for imperfections and color — ha, ha!

Before owning this stone, I never thought I would consider anything below VS2. But this stone definitely changed my mind. It’s definitely eye clean, and the color totally makes up for there being a small imperfection in it. Even the appraiser was surprised to find out it was an SI1. She thought it should have been graded higher than what it was. I also thought knowing there was a little spot in the stone would bother me, but it really doesn’t. I can sometimes see it, if I turn my ring just right, and I find myself really loving that little spot. It’s like my diamond’s birthmark, or something. (I know … I’m probably weird. LOL)

Gabrielle713:  thank you! I still love it. I still spend far to much time staing at it… If there is such a thing! Lol
