Pictionary :) we always plays this at our games nights... Usually ends in laughter and a lot of piss taking as none of us can draw to save our lives. :)
I LOVE the game Apples to Apples. It is so much fun and there can be so many silly and inappropriate combinations played that it always ends in lots of laughter.
I just wanted to second Pictionary & Catchphrase. My family plays Pictionary and FH family plays catch phrase and they are both so funny!
We play Trivial Pursuit. Always really funny because our family havent updated the questions since the 80s!
My favorite is Scrabble, but Apples to Apples is really fun in a group setting, and really easy to play (unlike, say, Pictionary or Cranium, which I always manage to fail at).
If you're looking for something a little off-beat, you should try Hex Hex. It's pretty self-explanatory and incredibly fun. Ticket to Ride is also a ton of fun :)
I agree with Apples to Apples. I also like Catch Phrase, I think that what it's called.
Catch Phrase and Apples to Apples are great games to play as a group
We also like a game called Smart Ass that we bought at Target
I love Funglish in a group. In smaller groups I really like monopoly.
I really like a new game called What's Yours Like. Our neighbor had it at our last get together and it was so fun. You pass a card around and everybody except the guesser knows what it is and then they all give a clue that describes the item. It can turn pretty dirty. The box gives the example of "Mines tight" and "It's hot when I wear mine" for a swimsuit.
We have a group of couples that has a game night every couple of months. We've tried alot of games, but the one we go back to over and over is Settlers of Catan. We play with the 5-6 player expansion.
We tried Ticket to Ride, but many of us, me included, didn't like it. Settlers of Catan is super easy to learn, but there is so much strategy. The board changes everytime you play, so you never get bored.
Balderdash. It's so much fun, but I never play it anymore. Never enough people.
ETA: It's really fun and always creates a huge amount of laughs. Check it out.
Scattegories is fun, too!
We always have the issue that so many of our favorite games (like Apples to Apples) require at least four people, and most of the time, there are only two of us around. Boo.
@mmsva: Settlers of Catan is the best! I have seen this game take over communities by storm. =) super fun game!
Apples to Apples, we're also fans of Pandemic and a card game called Munchkin.
@delicious: it's suppose to be the most popular game in Europe. I just love it. I was a little sad that at our last game night we did a Zombie board game. It was super fun too, but I like to get a quick Settlers game in before we move on to a new game.
i love Scrabble, but i find that a lot of people don't (mostly because i beat them at it! XD). Clue was my favorite as a kid, but might be a bit too simple for adults. Apples to Apples is great if you all know each other really well, or want to get to know each other better.
Balderdash is my favorite. Apples to Apples is great for parties but if you play it too much you'll get sick of it.
Favorites among my group of friends:
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Ninja Burger
Pandemic
Dominion

I'm hosting a board game/thanksgiving dinner sequel at my place this weekend because we went out of town for Turkey day and didn't have leftovers (and leftovers are the BEST part). We don't have any board games so I need to go scoop one sometime this week. What is your favorite game?
