My wedding will be next winter and for our outdoor shots, me and the girls will be wearing Ugg-type boots!! The girls have short dresses so it will be so much fun!!! And all the guys will be wearing Converse with their suits!
Love that idea! We're doing Converse too! I think my favorite thing we're doing so far is having activity books for the kids that I'm making myself! I think it'll be a nice touch so they won't be too bored at dinner! :-)
We're getting married on the Outer Banks, so we're having a pirate-themed rehearsal dinner with a buried treasure hunt for our bridal party (nips and other naughty, adult things). So excited!
Love the Chucks on guys! If we weren't getting married on a beach, I'd be all over that.
@LittleOctopus - I LOVE the pirate themed rehersal dinner! If it weren't winter and we weren't landlocked in the midwest, I would totally do that! The FI loves all things pirate. Plus he loves his Converse! Hence why we are doing it! I can't decide though... make all the guys wear black and white Chucks or let them pick their color?
@TP - That's gonna look so cute! Too bad that won't work in the summer in San Diego : )
@LittleOctopus - hysterical! Can't wait to see pictures...
Thanks, our BP has no idea. We're so excited! I can't wait to see our friends out there digging in the sand like looney bins.
I love the idea of all different color Chucks! It depends on your wedding though, are you going for elegant or eclectic?
i love that we're having a weekday brunch!! as far as clothes etc we're all pretty sassy and sexy and my bms will just be rocking black like the socialites they are lol and i think that's pretty unique (although not to the hive)...
Well... its a little bit of both. I like to think of it as a "Casual Elegance." Not too formal but not a backyard wedding either. Its a late morning wedding in the winter.
We're having a walking parade from our ceremony to our reception. Both of our venues are privately owned and have never been used by another wedding. We're grilling chicken, shrimp, and steak that will be a served family style with grilled veggies.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm so excited about so many elements of our wedding.
Hmmm...maybe a few different colors then, but still within your palette? Then you'd get the mistmatched look but still be cohesive. Or you could do black and white with fun laces! Oooh, jealous of the chucks ;)
@LittleOctopus - So jealous of the pirate themed RD!
@TP to Be - about the colorful Chucks vs. B&W Chucks: IMO, the dead of winter could benefit from colorful footwear...but if you like uniformity, maybe colorful socks? Can't wait to see the pix!
My favorite fun idea for our wedding: since it's going to be at the Disneyland hotel (and we're encouraging all our guests who are parents to bring their kids), we've invited all kids to dress up as their favorite Disney character/princess! We'd love to have a bunch of pirates, princesses, monsters, jedi knights, etc. running around. My second favorite fun idea: our favors are tickets into Disneyland (small wedding - 60 guests)! Can't wait to see the kids' faces when they open up their favor boxes!
I liked all of our science items that were infused throughout our reception. I also liked wearing aviator glasses for the grand entrance at the reception. I loved having ribbon wands at the grand exit outside the church.
our wedding is at an eco friendly preserve and museum in las vegas - which is very un vegas - but were having an elvis impersonator come and sing a few songs for our guests!
My FH will be wearing converse too! We are going to customize his pair with the date and wedding colors.
My gift to my FI will be the custom designed converse! Though he would only want B&W... i'm thinking of either writing "groom" or the wedding date on them too! Love the Converse!!
Hmm, my favorite unique thing was probably my short, handmade dress and the suit the Dude wore that belonged to my dad.
We're having a Autumn wedding but it'll still be quite hot so we're going to get an icecream vn to come to the venue whilst we're having pictures...
Also SPARKLERS! I love them and I love the effect they make in photo's, considering doing oour first dance under a rotunda and give the guests sparklers...
@TP - that is such a great idea!! my MOH designs custom made things like that and has done stuff for her BF and he loved them...Great idea!!
My favorite thing is that its going to be a big party....starting with cocktails, then short ceremony followed by a BBQ, dancing...and my favorite part...karaoke!!
I have 2 that I'm excited about. We're having games throughout the wedding theme, so the centerpieces will be surrounded by our own personalized trivia and scattergories cards! My other exciting aspect is our favor - a create your own trail mix buffet!
@soonerpsych - i love trivia games and i'd love to be a guest at your wedding!
I love the idea of the photo booth but it's waaaay to expensive. So I am buying a bunch of fun props like oversized sunglasses, blow up micro phones, guitars, and hats so that the kids will be entertained. The pictures will be so much more fun. We are also having mariachi play, it's my family's favorite thing to request songs and exaggerate every note while they sing along. We are also doing an activity book for the kiddos. Plus my honey's friend will be choreographering a fun dance for us to bust out and do while we are doing our first dance. I'm so excited. This reminds me I need to get on the ball with all these plans to make them come to life. 7 more months.
I'm really excited to have our cake. We'll have a really small cake on display for the reception, but when it comes time to eat, there will be sheets of Coldstone ice cream cake in the back! mmmm
I am excited about the shawls for the BM's and scraves for the GM that my mom knitted herself. They will be wearing them for pictures and the ceremony.
@wildstyle - Thanks! Your venue sounds like it will be gorgeous, and I think Elvis will definitely bring the Vegas factor, sounds fun!
@ZoeKat - I love Coldstone! Can I come to your wedding? lol! HAHA!
I just got another great inspiration that we are TOTALLY going to do...
I love it!!! The FH loves it too! Except they will be red!
@ TP- I saw this picture too! I think it looks so cute, but the first thing that went through my mind was "what if one of those airplanes goes in my eye" lol im weird
@honeyBear - I had that thought, too! ;-) winky eye face for the eye that gets poked out.
we were all about the all-jamaican food, and the polaroids and costumes. correction - I was all about the polaroids, and my hubby kept asking me to put that noisy camera away, haha.
This thread IS awesome! We have such creative minds here, I love it!
@littleoctopus: Arrgh matey! I like me some pirates!
@soonerpsych: I love the trail mix buffet! Look at you being all healthy on the buffet front!
@zoekat: OMG Coldstone! I love it. What a surprise for your guests!
@TP to Bee: I love the airplanes! What a unique idea to the send off!
I'm really excited right now about our trivia cootie catchers. Instead of putting a menu in, like I've seen on a few blogs - we're putting in trivia about ourselves. Our names and date are on the outside, the questions are on the inside and the answers are under the flap! I'm making four different versions of them, so there are a lot of things to learn about us!
Instead of an aisle runner, or rose petals, I'm going to line the aisle of our garden wedding with pinwheels, kind of like the attached pic. We're also using my dad's bonsai trees as centerpieces - they're free, and gorgeous.
@Melissabegins and @honeybear - good point (haha! get it? point? no... ok...its just me!
) Maybe i'll have to wear sunglasses for our grand exit! haha!
@whitesonnet - we are doing cootie catchers too! but ours are just traditional ones that may be a little wedding-y! I'm the nerd who still makes them with whatever paper I have... be it gum wrappers or a letter! The trivia idea is great though! So much fun!
@rocktsrgn - i love the pinwheel idea! So cute!! And I am all about free stuff!
Wow so many awesome ideas!! @melissabegins, that polaroid of you and your husband is so great--I love the classic, vintage look of polaroids.
Hmm, I guess one unique thing we're doing is having a flip book station. Flip books are those little booklets you flip forward really fast and the pictures on each page look like they're moving. We're also trying to have a scotch bar for FI (he loves his scotch!) but I"m not sure if it's going to work out.
I'm trying to think of something unique for favors as well...
@hilsy85 - Flip books!?! Thats awesome!! What kind of stuff will be in the flip books? Or will your guests be creating them? Thats so much fun!
The most unique and awesome thing imo about our wedding is that our 8th grade English teacher is marrying us!! We are both writers by profession and we adored this teacher. When we asked him, how ironic was it that he was already ordained as a minister!!
We're doing an Adesso polaroid album...I cant wait!! I just got it in the mail and my old polaroid camera still works! :)
Later on after the cake has been eaten and we're all dancing we're bringing out a donut bar with tons of different donuts and clear baggies with labels that say " it donut get better than this" and our wedding date and names :)
Here are my uniques!
We are doing a bird themed wedding based on "Birds of a Feather Flock Together" using swallows on trees. Me and the girls are sewing small stuffed birds with a pocket in the back and hanging them from the tree centerpieces. Instead of a guest book, the tables will have paper and pens for everyone to sign or write us a note. Fold it, stuff in a bird pocket, and rehang the bird on the tree. Afterwards I'm taking the notes and scrapbooking them with candid photos - and the fabric stuffed birds will become our new Christmas ornaments for our tree. :)
For the toasting, everyone is going to use their regular drinks - except as a thank you to our bridal party, the girls are getting nice champagne and the guys are going to have a bottle of scotch in low ball glasses - so instead of us having toasting flutes, we will have what matches us instead - me with a cute flute and him with a nice glass. None of the guys like champs anyway - so what a huge waste I say!
And my last unique thing probably isn't that unique - but my Dad and I are doing a fast dance, not choregraphed or anything, to "Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Seger. The song has a ton of history for us and I can dance with my Dad better than with anyone else :)
I love these kind of posts, everyone has such good ideas and if people recycle the others, its so doubtful that anyone knows each otehr that it doesn't matter! :) I'm thinking about the whole "dress up stuff" for photos. Our wedding is adults only but there are so many hams and goofballs in our group of friends that I think it would be awesome!
I love everyone's ideas!! Such creative brides!!
We had horses at our wedding. Since we got married on a ranch, the owner wanted to know if we'd be ok if the horses attended the party. We're complete animal lovers so we loved the idea. My husband surprised everyone by riding up to the ceremony on a horse. And once they pronounced us husband and wife, the horses all ran through the field behind us - it was beautiful. But the best part was during the cocktail hour when all the horses came up to the patio and the guests got to feed them carrots. Everyone loved it!!
