Whip It.
No, just kidding, but I am going to try for it just to see his reaction. I have no idea! I might just let him decide.
Shania Twain, Still the One. I never in a million years would have thought I'd have a Shania song (I was thinking more "At Last" or "Unchained Melody"). I'd heard the song a million times but never really paid attention to the lyrics until a few months ago, and they just describe us and our relationship perfectly. Like it was written for us. I played the song for FI that day and told him to listen to the words, and his jaw dropped. I could tear up just thinking about how perfect it is, actually. Good grief!!
We're using "The Way you Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra. It's more up-beat than a normal first dance song. Plus, the words are very sweet! Good luck!
Since it's December in the mountains of VA, we're using "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" by Frank Sinatra. It has a GREAT beat and he'll be good at whirling me around the dance floor (hopefully my bustle will work well).
WE are using Gettin' you home (little black dress) song. I don't know why. My FI and I love it and think it is funny and cute, but I think we kinda chose it to throw off his super picky grandparents and aunts and uncles. Hehe. but he did choose it
We're going with a song from a relatively unknown Irish singer, Declan O'Rourke. The song is "Galileo" and you can find the song on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg0AntKH6ss
He's an artist we listened to on repeat while we were dating and falling in love--it's personal and most people won't know it, but hopefully our guests will listen to the lyrics and find it as special of a song as we do!
Por una Cabeza and we are going to try to replicate the tango from the movie True Lies.
We think we're going to use "Swallowed in the Sea" by Coldplay. We're both huge Coldplay fans and the song means a lot to both of us.
We have ours narrowed down to four completely different choices and I think we are going to put it up to a vote on our website because we really can't decide!
We've got KISS Forever because FI has a love of 80's hair bands, Take That Rule the World because it would be FI's theme song if he had one (I know, he's a nut! but so am I), Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Islands in the Stream because man, I love that song, and I like the idea of having a sort of silly dance because neither of us can actually dance, and then a more contemporary song like by Jason Mraz or Ben Folds to be a little more traditional. I really think I'd be happy with any of these even the KISS song cause I know FI would be so happy and I like it well enough.
Tiny Dancer by Elton John - it's our song!
Dance lessons are in our future, for sure.
We are using True Love Ways by Buddy Holly, before we decided on that we were considering the acoustic version of Everlong by the Foo Fighters and Ryan Adams' version of Wonderwall.
We're doing Michael Buble's version of "Everything" I know it's probably an overused generic song for a wedding, but it has special meaning to us; it's what was playing when FI kissed me the first time.
We're doing Just You'n'Me by Chicago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu8Xqk7ZdBc&feature=player_embedded
Our song is "You're still the one" by Orleans and we didn't think we'd be able to dance to it well... Just you'n'me is a bit slower and I love the lyrics. Chicago has a few great songs actually!
We're using 'She's Everything' by Brad Paisley! It was the first song we ever danced to, and everytime it comes on my fiance says it was written about me. It wasn't even a choice for us.
We're doing "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.. I hate that Grey's used it though, but love the song regardless :D
If we do a first dance..it'll be to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie. But we are crappy dancers so we might forego the whole thing completely..
I think we have somewhat come to making a decision - When You Say Nothing at All by Ronan Keating. We'll see if it holds though.
Our first dance was, "Everything" by Michael Buble. Faster paced, super happy and the words fit perfect for us. Lyrics:
You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And You're the perfect thing to say.
And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
We've narrowed it down:
My Pick:
"First, Last, Everything" - Barry White
Not gonna choreograph anything cheezy but it's upbeat, fun, not-your usual slow, mushy 1st wedding song.
His Pick:
"When The Stars Go Blue" - The Corrs w/ Bono
Technically 'our song' and it has an Irish feel to it (both fams are Irish & he proposed in Ireland)
What we'll Prob Use?
"To Make You Feel My Love" - Adele
I love her version of the song. It's slow & kinda mushy but in a cool way. Plus, it's a Dylan song. :)
We had a hard time with this! We wanted to pick an older song, because love songs today just don't capture the same emotion as they did years ago, but we didn't want it to be too cheesy. We ended up picking "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack. It's a beautiful song! We're taking 12 dance lessons, though, because the song is so slow that we need to learn what to do with it!
@JenniBee- I love that song, and it would be a lot of fun to dance to!
We are considering "You Send Me" by Sam Cooke- old and sweet!
Kenny Chesney - Ordinary Love.
Mostly because we had an iPod reception and couldn't choose "the song" ahead of time, so we started dancing for the first (random) slow song that I said "aw, this could work!"
@jacqi--we are totally thinking of using that song. I absolutely love older songs and I really like Sam Cooke!

FI and I are having the hardest time agreeing on a song for our first dance. We want something that is slightly faster than most of the love songs out there where you can really only just sway, but we also want it to have meaningful words. Does anyone have any ideas? I love the song, Then, by Brad Paisley, but we don't want a country song for our first dance.
What are you ladies using?
