My SO slept over one weekend after I moved into a new apartment. I was hella stressed because this new apartment was infested with spiders and I had sticky paper down everywhere to catch them as they ran across. In the morning, when I went into the bathroom, there was a MOUSE caught on the sticky paper. It was alive and squealing. I am a huge animal lover, just not spiders. I was traumatized that I had caught a little mouse in my sticky trap. He was struggling to get away. 🙁 I woke SO, and he took the mouse outside and very gently peeled it off the sticky paper with a fork and set it free. It was the kindest thing, and that’s when I knew I had to make him mine.

@babypearls:  When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, my now-husband then boyfriend took care of me. He’d replace my ice packs as needed, made me easy to eat foods, and so forth. It may not seem like much, but it meant a lot to me!

@Twyla_Smith:  I love it when they care for you when you’re sick. It’s the sweetest! SO and I were travelling back to our colleges after my cousin’s wedding. My college is about two hours south of his. By the time we got to his school and it was time for me to pick up my car and make my trip back to mine, I was extremely sick. I had picked up the flu. SO put me to bed and took care of everything with cold cloths, soup, and medicine. Even when I was super nauseous and vomity, which I find totally gross, he took care of me. He did his classes and homework all while caring for me and letting me take up space for days in his twin sized bed, haha. And he put up with me being stinky and having nasty hair because I was too ill to take showers or put on clean clothes. Totally gross! He was the best though. 🙂

I love reading everyone’s stories. This is a great idea for a thread! It’s making me think of all the beautiful things SO has done for me, I think when our partners show us kindness, that is when they are the most attractive. I fall in love with him all over again when he does things like this.

Last New Years i got really drunk lol it was my first time being drunk, actually. Nothing huge, we just went down to my aunt’s beach house with my cousins. I went to sleep and woke up about an hour later throwing up. My FI got me crackers, sprite, and rubbed my back until I was finally done getting sick and could go back to sleep. It was really sweet of him and i still remember it clearly….especially the getting sick part 🙁

I think for me it was the loving care he treated my doggie with…I remember the first time I walked in and caught him baby talking her when he didn’t know I was watching 🙂 he picked up turds and all the unglamorous things dog dads do without flinching.

When my SO and I got our first place we couldn’t wait to move in so we decided to spend one night camping out before we moved all of our stuff in. We used a plastic bin as a table made frozen pizza in our new oven and drank beer out of champagne flutes to celebrate the first night in our condo! Then we slept on top of a blanket on the floor in our bedroom. We were so happy 🙂 I always appreciate the simple but perfect moments my SO and I have together 🙂 I love that man so much!

Our first camping trip. The second morning we woke to a horrendous downpour. He rigged up a tarpaulin between the car and the tent and we sat in our waterproofs cooking and then eating a huge cooked breakfast (sausages, bacon, eggs, black pudding, beans, the lot!). All the other people at the campsite sat inside their caravans and peered out at us 🙂 We got pretty soaked but breakfast tasted gooooood 🙂

When I’m with him I’m a more adventurous person.

I have several moments like that.

We had been dating several months when one day, we were in the car and came up to a stop light. I remember he turned to me and told me how happy he was that we had found each other, and he didn’t ever want to be with anyone else. It just was one of those moments you never forget. I still get misty when I remember that feeling.

He also would stop by my apartment sometimes when I was at work — my apartment was downtown not far from his office. He  would leave little surprises and love notes. I remember coming home from work and finding these wonderful little love notes and roses. (sigh)

I also will never forget the first time he held my hand. WOW. I could tell by the way he held my hand that he thought I was pretty special. At that moment I felt so cherished and adored. I felt the same way about him, too…. (sigh again)

We really did have a wonderful courtship period. It was even better than anything I’d ever imagined. He was just so sweet and tender towards me.

On our 3rd date (I know! Quick! LOL). We sat outside at one of my favorite restaurants and talked for hours about everything. My FI is an introvert and doesn’t open up easily so this date was so important b/c he showed that he trusted me.

We still go to this restaurant every Valentine’s Day and a lot in the summer. Everytime we are there I think of our 3rd date and how I knew then that I’d marry him one day.

One night while we were dating, I got really sick all the sudden.  I had a headache, stomache, and my whole body hurt.  I felt ugly and disgusting and really self conscious because my boyfriend had never seen me like that.

I remember laying in bed feeling miserable and telling my husband (boyfriend at the time) that I really wanted to take a hot bath.  He went to the bathroom to get everything ready and came back five minutes later.

As I was laying in bed, he took all my clothes off, scooped me up in his big manly arms and carried me to the bathroom where he gently laid me into the bathtub.  Then when I was done, he came back, dried me off with a towel, and scooped me up in his big manly arms again and took me back to my bed where he cuddled me the rest of the night.  I was so happy.  I never felt so loved in my entire life.  It sounds cheesy but I knew that night that I wanted to marry him.

10 months into our relationship we celebrated and got a little drunk. He got more than a little drunk though and started telling me how much he loved me. His eyes were getting really moist (this is a man who never cries) telling me how much I mean to him.

There have been other amazing time where he’s nursed me to health but that night always sticks out.

A few months ago we also stayed up late just talking and he told me again and again how I’m the best thing to ever happen to him and how he thinks his life would be so much worse if I hadn’t been there to always cheer him on even after getting rejected from grad schools last year.

@babypearls:  I have a lot of happy moments, but one of my favorite moments of the two of us is a weekend getaway in Bonita Springs, Florida.  This was back when I was 19 years old, and we had no money for a fancier vacation.  We had an amazing time, and we laughed so hard that I actually peed myself in front of an old lady who was walking by.  I really could not control it.  It was a great day.

One of my favourite moments is just staying in bed in the morning and chatting. Not about anything serious, just ransom stuff. I make my coffee and we chat for hours. I love those days when we have to time to do this as it doesn’t happen too often!
