Plus there was this one that wouldn't fit in the post - all the Spanish designers had these amazing organza coats in their 2009 collections, but they've disappeared in more recent ones, so I guess everyone thought they were too out-there!
I LOVE the 3rd dress (sweetheart neckline, lace, belt under bust)!! Do you know who the designer is? Model number? Thanks!
When I think edgy, I think of Wai-Ching dresses. Colorful, different cuts and material than your usual wedding dress. I don't know if I can call them different because I've seen the dresses pop up multiple times on Offbeat Bride and once on Weddingbee.
This is a popular Wai-Ching

And this one:

I definitely think the third fourth and fifth dresses you posted are pretty typical. But OMG I love the sixth one! I would totally wear that.
My dress is tea lenght, Drew by Priscilla of Boston but I wouldn't call it edgy, maybe a little bit funky. The material is very standard.
@Future Frett, it's a Constantina by Enzoani dress called Eva, think it's from the 2009 collection - might be 2008. I'm not sure if that collection is available in the US (I'm a UK bride), but a very similar one (and slightly cheaper) is in the 2010 Blue by Enzoani range, called Cambridge.
@Dolly Lava, those dresses are definitely edgy - very cool. Did you consider any of those?
I definitely consider dresses like Vera's Diana to be pretty edgy.

Rock N Roll Bride is an excellent source for amazing, edgy dresses. She has some fabulous taste.
@Arachna - I think that's a valid point - I think UK and US ideas of "different" are pretty different!
Part of why I joined this forum is that I think US brides generally seem to choose better dresses than UK brides (sorry girls!), and I know I've lusted a great deal after American brands like Priscilla of Boston and Jim Hjelm.
My dress is even from the US arm (Blue by Enzoani) of a UK house (Benjamin Roberts), so is pretty unusual amongst UK brides (but not really edgy or anything).
As far as I can tell from UK forums, about 40% of UK brides will be wearing MS's Sabelle, closely followed by Victoriana, with the rest wearing dresses similar to Alfred Angelo's 1136. No offense to any of those gowns - they're all beautiful, they just seem to appeal to many brides.
As a former regular on OffbeatBride, the only one here I consider at all "edgy" is the Wai-Ching. I have a hard time looking at anything white and seeing "edgy".
My mind goes more to this sort of thing...

Or even better.. to the queen.

I LOVE Gwen Stefani's wedding dress. Perfect mix of beautiful, elegant, and different.
I found this one-- and I actually don't think it's that out there and is GORGEOUS!!
One of my best friends bought this dress:

But then reconsidered and wore a Pronovias.
A girl I follow on OffbeatBride hasthe Zolatova, and it's so amazing..
To me, for a dress to be edgy it needs to be really different from the standard long white dress, with unusual detailing or colours.
I'm far too old-fashioned to wear anything other than the long white dress, but I absolutely adore this one from offbeat bride (http://offbeatbride.com/2008/10/prom-dress-as-wedding-gown):

It's fairly traditional in shape, but the colours - wow!
Mine is pink and knee length. I love it. Edgier than any white, full length dress I've seen!
I also loved Dita von Teese's wedding dress. The color is GORGEOUS.

i love these. the last photo is actually a quinceanera dress but i would wear it as a wedding gown!
Haha. Pnina Tornai made a black and white dress similar to those. It's called "Noir et Blanc". Wow.... so original. :/

Fab dresses ladies, keep them coming! I particularly like the one with the top hat - I always loved that look when I was a little girl - the riding habit wedding gowns with white top hats - ah, the 80s!
Looking through my computer, I found this picture of a Basia Zarzycka gown that I thought was the most amazing wedding gown ever when I was about 17. Part of me would still wear it if I thought I could afford it!
I also have a soft spot for Melania Trump's gown - you can't beat Galliano for sheer wow-ness!
It also crossed my mind to get married in this dress that I made myself for a college ball - but there was a little too much cleavage for church, and I wanted to wear something no-one had seen before.
In a totally different vein, I love this Carolina Herrera shirt & skirt look - so elegant, but I would worry that guests wouldn't "get" it.
Most white dresses I would not consider edgy, but this one by Australian designer Mira Mandic is so revealing I'd have to put it in that category I think! It is pretty though... :)
@Ms Caniche: LOL, that is the funniest crocheted monstrosity I've ever seen!

Hi Everyone,
I was inspired to write this post by LegallyBlondeBride's dress indecision, where she described wanting an "edgy" dress, but a few people felt the dresses she posted weren't edgy at all. That made me wonder what people thought was unusual? For everyone who's chosen their dress (me included) you will feel that your dress is unique and fabulous in its own way, but I want to know what dresses you saw along the way that you thought were really bold/brave/different/edgy?
That maybe you thought were too bold to choose?
Here are some of mine, that I thought were real gems, but didn't suit my wedding or my non-supermodel shape - share yours!
