Mine is going from uncommon to common.

I love my last name and still plan on using it as a nickname but itll be so nice to have one that people can spell and say correctly lol.

    Amaryllis    July 2, 2011

I am not comfortable sharing my names on a forum like this, but I will say that I love my Italian maiden name that begins with C. I am actually kind of sad at the prospect of dropping in the alphabet to a K last name. I will probably keep my maiden and use both, though.

Same boat at as Amaryllis and not comfy sharing that.  I switched bee names because I wanted more annonymity.

But I also love my Italian maiden name that even though I've been married several months now can't decide what to do about that since I love my husband but don't feel that attached to his last name.  Though I do really like seeing mr and mrs hislastname on letters.

I won't share mine because it's not common, but my married name will be Compton. My maiden is a German name.

Yeah I'm not really comfortable sharing my name on here.  My maiden name was uncommon and my married name is more common!

Ok, I'll share...largely because both of my names are brands.

I was Campbell, now I'm Pella.  My blog is souptowindows....get it?!

(Un)Fortunately I'm not related to anyone who is even close to the fortunes of either brand name.

I'll be going from a fairly uncommon Irish last name to an American "top 3" last name.  Howmanyofme.com says with firstname-lastname, I'll go from being one of a kind, to one of 657.

Yeah, since I've already shared my first name here, I'm totally not comfortable sharing my last. But it won't be changing after I get married.

    Chillmer    May 30, 2010   Milwaukee

I'm going from a hard-to-pronounce Polish name to an easy-to-pronounce German one, but I'm annoyed that it starts with a Z.  What if they hand out treats in alphabetical order and they run out by the time they get to me?  Ha.  I'm just being silly.

If you combine our two names, you get Chillmer, my username.  I LOVE Chillmer. I want both of us to go by that, but his parents would throw a fit.  We've gotten cards and invitations addressed to The Chillmers.

I had a polish name, and now i have a name that doesn't sound it but it's German. It is a name I see on street signs in warm fabulous places. LOVE it!

@mishell - Love both of your last names - especially the italian one.

I have a very Irish first and last name which people often compliment.  My new last name will be very French :o(  I joked this past St. Pat's that is was my last time celebrating as an Irish girl.....next year I'll be a Frenchy.

I currently have a common Irish last name that goes well with my Irish first name.  I'm switching to a super Polish last name, but I'm psyched to finally drop all ties to my father's name.

My current last name literally translates to wheat wine.

My future last name translates to Naughty Child...

Both the names are French.  What can I say... I love my culture.

Yea, Beekiss, that is WILD! :)

For that reason, I would hyphenate and keep my maiden name with my married name! lol.

I am going from an EXTREMELY common last name to another EXTREMELY common last name.....even keeping up with the first letter being W...My family jokes that our kids will ALWAYS be at the back of the line, if not for their height (we are both in the 6 ft plus club) for the last name. lol!

Yeah, it is kind of crazy and people always remember me for my last name.  I'm looking forward to going to a very common last name.  If I kept my last name and hypenated it, it would be 3 separate names--so a total of 5 names and I don't feel like being royal especially perhaps a royal pain in the a** for any paper work.  Plus if  I hyphenated it, it would an interesting time for our future children....having three last names would be pretty crazy.  Lol

I am going from a very uncommon bohemian last name to a pretty common irish last name. I'm pretty sad to lose my last name because my family are the only ones in the US that have it, and I'm the only one of "Me" in the country. I never minded that people can never spell it or say it, and I loved when people asked me about it! Now I'm going to have a name that is a whole region of Ireland, and LOTS of people have it. Boo. :)

I'm going from a uncommon (slightly vulgar) last name to a very common name. Right now I'm 1 of 38 people with my name, when I get married I'll be 1 of 1,144.

according to howmanyofme.com there are 224,106 people in America with my last name and 96 with my first name and maiden name, and only 1,989 people in America with my new last name.

With my married name though, there is only 1 person with my first name, new last name.    ME!!!

I share my last name with the Beatles' drummer, the special prosecutor in the '90s, and a former Green Bay quarterback.  (don't really mind sharing, but don't want it searchable.)  His last name is German, but fairly short.  It's a very nice name, but it's not and won't be mine for various reasons, liking my own name more being among them.

@soontoobee - i want to know what slightly vulgar means in relation to last name? Like Sally Boobie or something??? haha

Seriously both of my names were/are so rockin that i kept both of them and deleted my middle name. Added bonus is now i'm at the top part of the alphabet, so I am going to get all of @Chillmer's treats, muahahahahahah

I'm going from the second most common name in the US to the seventh...I guess an improvement?  It would be cool to have a unique name, but there is something satisfying about never having people screw up spelling/saying your name, esp. on the phone.  I already have a wacky address to relay, I don't need a confusing name too!

According to howmanyofme.com, I will go from having 2400 or so with my name to 1400 once I change my name.  Hope this will make finding my file at the doctors office easier!
