My mom will be wearing this beautiful dress to my wedding in two months. She absolutely loves it, and she got it at Macy's on sale for about $70!

My mom is wearing this dress from J Crew. The color looks red on my monitor but it's actually a gorgeous plum color, which ties in with my BMs without being an exact match.
@iheartnerds: This was my mom's second pick! It's a really beautiful dress! :)
My mom found a beautiful dress at Nordstrom's that is very similar to the J. Crew Cecilia iheartnerds just posted. It was affordable, modest, and very appropriate for a MOB without being too matronly. They have a lot of great choices on their website, so it might be worth her checking out!
I am so glad you posted this thread.
I will be keeping an eye on it for something that appeals to me because as some of you may know, my wedding is over; however, because of the wedding, her beau was inspired to propose to her, so I am now looking for a MOB dress that would be apprprate to wear to her wedding.
I am having a more difficult time finding a dress to wear to her wedding than I had looking for my gown. Isn't that sad? I think it is... Oh well.
I hope you are able to find some inspration from this post for your mom, and I hope I do too :-)
@noritake22: It's sad, but you are SO NOT alone in your plight! My mom was way more stressed about her dress than I was regarding my gown, but there are so few choices for moms who aren't stick-thin. It's so silly.
My mom was also stressed about her dress. She ended up finding the perfect one at a bridal salon. My bridesmaids dresses are a plum color, and she is wearing a really rich brown. She was wary of the brown at first, but it just looks so good with her skin tone and I think it will be fine in pictures.
It is a Sarah Danielle and has a built in corset so it is so flattering!

@brideatbeach: I totally agree. I am top heavy, so I have to look for separates, unless I want to pay for alterations. I am thinking about making a dress to wear to her wedding because I think that will be my best option, but I don't know, yet. I really would prefer to get something ready made, so I don't have to worry about it.
What makes matters worse, my daughter is definately not having a traditional type of wedding; at least for our ethnicity, so I am finding it difficult to find something that will fit with her theme; right now she plans to wear a sari (sp).
I was teasing her and told her that I would just wear my wedding dress to her wedding and she told me it didn't matter what I wore, just as long as I would be there to share her day with her. She won't suggest anything. It is making me crazy.
@noritake22: Have you told her how stressed you are? I had no idea my mom was stressed until my dad told me, and then I was happy to help her in the search! :)
@brideatbeach: No, I don't want to worry her. She has enough going on in her life without me adding to it. I am sure I will find something. It will just take some time. I am extremely picky, so that probably has something to do with it too. Also, I am the planner and organizer of things, so she constantly calls me for advice.
My Mom never wears dresses, so it was a stretch for her to wear a long skirt on our special day. I thought her final choice (separates from Dillards online) complimented the BM's gowns and she looked lovely. Here she is:
@melisslp: the color of your moms jacket is AMAZING. It looks so good on her skin tone.

My mom will be wearing a pant suit, similiar to this one. She likes pants suits since she is shaped like spongebob, dresses do nothing for her figure.
@melisslp: I love the seperates! My mom isn't a dress person, either...I can't remember the last time she was in a dress. I think she'd look great in something like this! I'll suggest this to her. What colors did your BMs wear? My mom is also worried about color---she doesn't want to match, she doesn't want to clash, she wants to compliment and coordinate with them, though.
Mom and Mom in law

EDIT:
It was conincidence they wore similar colors. My mom SWORE she would not wear beige... but that is what she ended up in! She was calling it "Honey" hehe. She found it at the "attic" of my bridal store where they sell samples or unsold dresses. She got it really cheap and a size to big so she had it altered. She is now selling it at a second hand dress shop. All in all with cleaning expense it will probably cost her about $150.
My Mum wore a colour that no one else wore. It's by Condici and stood out and was therefore suitable to walk me down the aisle in. Here it is

@Prewitt: Why thank you my dear! I love your mom's hat! What a fun accessory
@lefeymw: You say your Mum called her outfit 'Honey' in colour, my mum's was actually called 'Honey' how funny. Many people have commented on her hat, it was and still is her prized item.
I wore this for one wedding...looked like a 2 piece but was actually one. It was by Cameron Blake/Montage.
(sorry for the bad picture)

This is what I wore for the other wedding...Jade by Jasmine in chocolate.

@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: Ah thanks. I'll tell her, when I speak to her tomorrow ;)
I am so glad someone started this thread! My mom inundates me with at least 5 emails/phone calls a week wondering what she should wear so I am definitely going to keep an eye on this thread :)
This is what my mom is wearing:

She got it from Nordstrom! She lovveees it.
My Mom hasn't found her dress yet, but she is thinking of getting a short black dress with a jacket since our reception is in October.

My mom is really struggling with her attire. She is a plus-size and strugging with not looking "grandma-y" or like a "20-something." She wants something modest and flattering, but not too wild. What is your mom wearing and where did you find it? Did your mom match the rest of the bridal party or march to her own beat? Is black a no-no?
