I sit in a room with long skinny tables.  There are three people to each table, and it’s set up like classroom.  Just rows and rows of tables squeezed in.  There are around 200 of us and we get no privacy.  I would KILL FOR A DRAWER!  I think if I showed a picture, people would be shocked how crappy it is.

I work in pharma (scientist) and there has been a big bullsh!t push by management to have things more “open” to “facilitate communication” so at my last job they removed all the cubes and walls and had one giant open work area with desks. It was HORRIBLE. You can hear everything – every pen click, every bite of food, every phone conversation. So hard to concentrate. The upper management that made the decision got to keep their posh offices, surprise surprise.

I have a cube at my current job, and it’s MUCH better. The carpeting etc really helps keep the noise in check. I actually talk to people more, since there are no passive aggressive undertones between people about the noise issues, haha.

I’m currently rocking a private office.  I do a lot of private meetings and training sessions with customers and I need a quiet area to do that.  I actually miss having shared desks with no cubicle walls though.  It was easier to talk with coworkers and we’d all make funny faces at each other while taking phone calls.  I feel like a recluse in my private office.

I have a private office – big windows and everything!  Lol.  I love it!  Especially that I can shut the door when necessary.  And lock it.  😉

I’m currently in a cubicle, but we have one open office, which I’m hoping they’ll move me to since I just got a promotion and they hired someone new below me and we don’t have any open cubicles.

Individual cube, but it’s pretty large, with one of the only windows in the building at my back 🙂

@crayfish:  oh the food drives me crazy!  A thousand different smells, people eating away at their desks.  I am not a supporter of that.

I don’t have a private office per se, but I work in a lab- it’s my own little lab but I swear it was originally supposed to be a storage closet or something!  I don’t want to complain or anything, I hide in here alone until a patient needs blood drawn.  It’s set up the way I want it, things stored how and where I like.  I have a computer (duh, I’m on WB off and on all day lol) and a stool I can sit on.  Not too shabby I suppose.

@QueenOfSerendip:  I have a cube. But it is tucked away between a wall and a window so it is almost private. But it’s really tiny, if I push my chair too far back it hits the wall behind me. But, I do have the best view in the office so I will take it!

@QueenOfSerendip:  Oh, yeah, my husband makes a TON more money than I do, and he works in a cubicle.

I have always been in cubicles, but now  I have an office and I don’t think I could ever go back and not have an office again! I love it, and feel more productive.
