I am not organizing anything specifically for this tradition.  I will have my grandmothers necklace on my bouquet, but its not really borrowed since its mine now.  I might borrow my mom's earrings, but I am not sure yet.

Old:  Not sure yet.  We have no family heirlooms for me to use.  I may ask FMIL for something of hers.

New:  Undergarments.  I'm looking for a used dress.

Borrowed:  My sister's fresh water pearl necklace and earrings she wore for her wedding.  (although I really love the idea of FI's button down shirt, prncssdva)

Blue:  my shoes!  I have cute, cute blue peep toe flats.

@lefeymw: I didn't intentionally organized it either. It just happened to work out that way. I found my garter unexpectedly and fell in love because it is a police garter and I am going to be a police officer soon and so it happened to be blue. Since we are getting married on my great granmothers anniversary I wanted to have her with me and honor her somehow so I am wearing her old diamond bracelet. my mom has a floating pearl necklace that I just LOVE so I am going to borrow that and all I need then are earrings so I am going to buy those new. I didn't realize until later that I had my Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue stuff... somebody actually had to point it out! lol

    Old: Gloves.

New: Dress, shoes, jewelry, veil, etc.

Blue: Garter belt and/or a little blue stone my Etsy designer is adding to my necklace.

Borrowed: I don't know yet! I'm an only child and my mom and grandparents passed away... I'm not even sure who I can borrow something from... Where do you all find your borrowed pieces? Do you ask for them?

    Here's mine:

Old: A ring my grandpa gave my grandma years ago that my grandma then gave to me. I'm the only grandchild, and my grandpa passed away in February, so it is really special to me. I had it resized and will be wearing it on my right hand during the wedding. It's also special because it's diamond and ruby, which matches my colors!

    New: Dress, veil, shoes, ect...

Borrowed: Pearl necklace that is either going to be from my mom or my grandma, not sure which.

Blue: Aquamarine and diamond bracelet that was my birthday gift this year

@noodlesploosh: Do you have a close girl friend you could borrow something from? I also like @PrncssDva:'s idea about borrowing a piece of your FI's clothing!

    @noodlesploosh:

For your something borrowed you could always ask a friend or cousin, or someone close to you that way if you could borrow jewelry or something of theirs?

@noodlesploosh: It doesn't have to be from a family member. When my best friend got married she forgot to ask for something borrowed so when we got to the wedding site she saw the photographer has a pretty bracelet and asked to borrow it for the ceremony. lol. (She didn't want to use one of our because she spent so long picking them out for us) Ask friends, I am sure ONE of them will have something you like and can borrow. It doesn't even have to be jewelry or be seen. Another friend of mine borrowed an I rock from her niece and pinned it under her dress.

I hit upon an idea for my "blue" this weekend, in fact.

    Old: My grandmother's handkerchief

    New: My dress, shoes, etc.

Borrowed: I'll just borrow a penny from my BFF to put in my pocket. (I love that my dress has pockets!)

Blue: James Avery Remembrance charm for June (our wedding month), which has an Alexandrite stone that looks blue to me. I'm going to stitch it onto my grandmother's handkerchief and carry it at the wedding, and afterwards, I can put the charm on my James Avery charm bracelet as a keepsake:

What is your Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue? : wedding Something Blue

I told my mom about my idea this morning and she loved it and said the charm would be her wedding gift to me. :-)

Old: grandmother's wedding band. It means so much to be because my granddad died 7 years ago and I wanted a piece of him with me. When grandma said I could wear the ring I was thrilled.

    New: bracelet

    Borrowed:necklace and earrings

    Blue: engagement ring

Thanks for all the borrowing ideas!! I do have some great girlfriends - I'll ask them. I also think my FI would love it if I borrowed something from him. :)
