Personally, I’m just not a fan of the dresses themselves. Partly because I don’t “get” them and partly because I’m not into fashion as far as names or brands, just “ooh that is pretty!” I have seen some look GREAT on some brides, but I know I’d look hideous. To each her own in dress-world.

As far as making them more affordable, I don’t think that’ll change much. There are always certain dresses that are popular in each pricepoint. Maggie Sottero dresses come to mind or Midgley whatever (see, I pay attention…sort of). 🙂

I’m just not a fan of these dresses in general. I like many Vera dresses, but these just dont do it for me.  I especially don’t care for the vagiruffle (yeah thats vagina + ruffle, thanks to someone on here saying it reminded her of a female part) look in general.

you are just going to see them coming and going…aka alot of brides will be in them that is the one downfall to going almost to a “chain” type of bussiness

I do like them. They aren’t my personal taste though for myself. I also wouldn;t get one because they will be everywhere, and I like to be slightly different than whats the norm, and I hate following trends. I also am not much of a brand name person, all that stuff is crap to me. However, from what I have seen they do look very nice on some ladies 🙂

i love the designs and i love the ruffles. i had to go try on the dresses even though i was a little leary of David’s Bridal and even though I already bought two wedding dresses.  i really liked how the dresses looked on me but the material didn’t feel all that great. Vera had to cut corners somewhere to offer her dresses at a cheaper price so she sacrificed material.  I felt like the dresses were a copy of Vera’s own designs — massed produced and using polyester instead of the richer fabrics.  that said — i still love the fact that you can get the look of a $6,000 dress for just over $1,000.

i remember going to David’s a while back.  my friend really liked one of the dresses and then tried on a Maggie.  We took pictures of both dresses.  My friend ended up going with the Maggie because it photographed better.  I find that better fabrics photograph better.

@malisa0607:Couldn’t agree more. I was set on the White by Vera Wang organza fit and flare with all the ruffles at the bottom and strapless and was going to get it even though I didn’t want to admit to myself I did not like the material. Then I finally went to another bridal salon besides db and fell in love with Maggie. Much nicer material and look! Couldn’t be happier with my decision!

i think some of them are pretty, but have also seen them in person and the construction is just not that great. i mean thread coming out of seams and everything.

the “vagiruffle” is sort of vera’s signiture look, but now it’s just being duplicated and recreated in mass quantities and so it sort of takes away the specialness of it.

i don’t really like them, but don’t feel that they could ever be more popular than the maggie dresses these past two years (sabelle, adorae, kendra).

I think it’s important to remember that these are David’s Bridal dresses designed  by Vera Wang.  They are NOT Vera Wang dresses at DB.  Personally, I’m surprised she used some of her signatures in this line.  Translated into poorer quality fabrics, they just don’t translate well.

Just about everyone on the Bee who bought one, bought the ruffle one.  For that reason alone I wouldn’t purchase one.

@KristenGotMarried: “vagiruffle” Oh god, I hope no one thinks that about my gown. I don’t have a DB gown but it does have flanges.

The brides I’ve seen on WB have looked beautiful in the gowns. I wouldn’t personally get one because of the fabric as well as the fact that they’re super popular, but I’m glad that such a collection exists at that price point.

To be honest, with the exception of the vagi-ruffle dress (whose name still makes me giggle), this DB collection looks like any other to me. Like a PP mentioned earlier, that particular dress was a VW signature with many others imitating.
