I haven’t been to many weddings so I’m still unsure as to how things are done. I’d love to hear what you are doing/did; especially if you have any old traditions you are including.
Our plan thus far is:
Ceremony (20 mins ish)<br />Cocktail hour (serving hors d’oeuvres and drinks) whilst we take photos (max 1.5 hours but not leaving the venue)
Dinner (2 speeches before, as it’s plated so people will wait for orders, 1 between entree and main and remaining after?) Don’t want to make people wait for their food too long!
Cut cake (taken away to be sliced as is our dessert)
Also, we have to vacate the room we have dinner in for 20-30 mins while it is cleared for dancing. I’m a bit stumped what to do during that time. There is a drawing room, library etc people can explore (it’s an historic mansion) but would rather something actually happened, rather than people milled around aimlessly. They have suggested cake cutting then, but would people find it inconvenient to eat without being seated at actual tables? We could do speeches in the other room, but there isn’t enough seating for everyone (around 45-50 people and only seating for 25-30).
We don’t want to do a grand entrance either, might look a bit odd wandering into the dinner casually!
Any ideas appreciated!
