I'm curious as to how far along everyone here is with their invitations. I know we have MONTHS to finish and send out our invites... but I'm sure many of us here are full on!

Have you already printed/ send out STDs? What is your invitation timeline?

We are waiting for our e-pics to come back to order the STDs and will probably send them out at the beginning of January.  We live in a town where the tourist season doesn't really end until Columbus Day weekend, so people will need time to book hotel rooms ahead of time.

I have my STD's about 99% assembled (DIY) but I'm not sending them until February/March as most of our guest list is in town anyway.

I have my invitations picked out, but I haven't ordered them yet. I will be ordering them sometime in January I think because I have a voucher that I have to use before February and a coupon that expires in January so I figure if I'm saving so much it's okay to buy them early. I don't plan on sending the invitations until mid-July.

We just mailed our STD's on Friday.

We designed them on VistaPrint and ordered them about 2 weeks ago, they arrived by the end of the week, despite the fact that we chose the slowest shipping possible.

Then it took me a week to get all the mailing addresses of our guest list: definitely the most difficult part; but I'm so glad I have a nice complete list now for when we send invitations.

We finished addressing them all and walked to the post ofice to mail them together on Firday, enjoying the brisk but sunny weather.  Now I can't wait to hear when they arrive.

We're not going to be able to hammer down a date until the end of december, but are for sure doing October or September. My STDs won't go out until Jan. at the soonest. Am I behind?

We have our STD's being printed from an Etsy store (they are magnets) We are just waiting to have the money to make the payment so she can mail them to us.

We don't have any idea what we're doing for invitations yet.

@Luckygal5571:  I don't think so.  For us, it's just that more than half our guests will need to travel; and many from overseas.

We figure that we're early, but that winter is our busiest season - so we're getting them done when we can (which is now)

We have our STDs printed and are working on getting addresses. I never thought it would be so hard to get addresses! The plan is to send STDs in early-mid Jan. We're also DIYing invitations and slowly starting to print some things out...nothing major though.

I'm not even sure if we're doing STDs, I think we might do email STDs if we do them at all. The status of invitations is basically: I can't seem to get a budget nailed down for them, FI seems to have some clear feelings about the quality they need to be but I don't understand his parameters at all, and that's where we are! I don't feel like it's any big deal at the moment. I'd be up for doing a lot of DIY, but I know that my visual/crafty abilities are pretty low and FI has some standards, which is only fair!

@Fall_In_Love22: tell me about it; addresses were awful to track down!   FH has said that if nothing else, the STDs are like a "practice run" and learning process for when we need to send invites.

@luckygal5571, don't worry - you have enough time. I'm a firm believer in "you take as much time you have".

I'm designing and DIY-ing all of my paper stuff. I have the STD design 90% finished. We are getting our engagement pictures taken Dec 17th and should have them back mid-January (we're including them in our STD). So hopefully I'll have them out mid-late January.

I have a lot of inspiration for my invitations, and have some very rough drafts but those are going to take a lot more time. We will probably send them out late June/early July. Our guest list is about 80% out-of-town.

Ugh, I'm dreading getting all of the addresses!

AutumnElegance    September 22, 2012   Hawaii, wedding in Maryland

We actually have our invitations but not STDs... I had a Groupon-type deal for Vistaprint that I had to use up last month. I was planning to use it for STDs, but decided I wanted to use MagnetStreet for STDs instead. So we designed and printed both our invitations and a set of photo thank you cards with the Vistaprint coupon. Sitting away in a box for the next few months until I have addresses to start working on addressing them.

STDs should get here any day, I keep anxiously checking the mail. I'm a little worried that the text with our wedding website is small/hard to read, but a rep at MagnetStreet told me it looked ok to her. Can't wait to see them.

We're waiting to get our STDs from vista print. We already have all of the addresses ready. We'll send them the week we get them. I'm looking at invitation designs now, but we won't send them out until May at the earliest. We will be asking for an August 1st RSVP-by date.

Our stds are done and as soon as i get the rest of these addresses theyll be going out next week. He has until the 10th to get the rest of his peoples addresses. I designed and am designing all of my paper products. My inbites are designed and just ready to be printed but im not doing that until April. So I think we're doing pretty good.

I'm still working on finishing up our STD's and 1/2 the invitation kits have been purchased. Working on getting the RSVP card wording and menu selection worked out for those. The plan is to send out the STD's the end of this month. Invitations are going to go out in May/June.

we're not doing STDs (GASP!) but have designed a cute e-card we're emailing everyone to request their mailing addressses for the invites. these will have the wedding date on there so we figure that's good enough.

we're thinking that we'll send out our invites in early july for our 9/21 wedding. is that suuuuuper early?

Update:  STDs for my side have been sent.  I'm having issues with my FMIL... she seems to be taking her sweet time getting me the addresses of the guests she wants to invite.  (Mind you, it's been 4 months of reminding her to get these darn addresses.)  Anyways, I sent out my side of the guest list so that's a mini-relief for me at least.

I'm going to check out invitations this weekend if the snow holds off.

My invitation design is DONE (and I love it!).  Just waiting to meet with our venue to confirm the menu, so we can put the food options on the RSVP cards.

Just sent out the STDs 2 weeks ago, since it's a bit of a destination wedding. Bit nerve wracking, took forever for some of them to get to people, plus my mom's ended up being sent back!

I put 75% of my STDs in the mail, we did magnets off vistaprint, and mounted them into a DIY card that I stamped.  I ran out of magnets and am firming up the last 50 or so names on the guest list so when they arrive next week we will be all done with that.  I have started desinging my invites with a woman on etsy: Studio G designs, she is doing the design for all our stationary, I will order the paper from cards and pockets and a local printer is printing them, its semi-DIY and while its nto the cheapest route I estimate we will pay $3(ish) per invite and get invite suites that would have run at least $5-$6 if we had it all doen for us, plus we'll hae the menu and programs as well as monograms and labels desinged for other DIY projects :) I'm super excited!

We sent out our STDs along with our Christmas cards...2 birds with one stone.  Half our guests are from over 5 hours away.  I did things a bit backwards and got a little over excited about the invitations.  I designed them over 8 months ago.  I have a design background and couldn't wait to play with paper and fonts!  I'm happy I can tie everything together.  I have access to a good printer.  Our invites with postage came to about $2.20 per suite.  I found a lot of the paper online with discounts.  The envelopes and the pocket I also found online and used a coupon.  I can't wait to print the rest out and put em together.  I think we aren't sending them out until July:(

I picked out my invites at Michael's MONTHS ago lol I was just so excited to start planning that I'm sure it's been almost a year that I've had my invites HeeHee! I've got all of the wording and address lables ready to print at home so all i have to do is print them in June and put the address lables on, assemble everything and mail them! I'm glad I'm doing everything early because I want to have time to enjoy the planning process closer to the date so that I'm not freaking out about small details for months and months :)

we are 1/4 done our invitations, we are working on the inserts right now, and then finish decorating the front.   Ugh!  it's soooo time consuming, we were on a roll there in the beginning and gradually started to slow down on it.  Gotta get back at it soon, we want them mailed out by end of June
