Mine is a wooden house with straw-bale walls built by my husband. Custom furniture, big soaker bath, awesome wrap-around porch and plenty of room. Large kitchen with copper fittings, big table, workspace for days. You get the idea. And it would be in the woods up in the hills around here. With a pond so my DH can fish at will. It can’t happen though because you can get planning permission for a house made out of strawbales here and my DH isn’t a qualified builder, so technically he can’t build out house, even though he is certainly capable of it. Sigh.

This house and a dually truck and I’d be a super happy camper.

A castle.

I spend time mourning this dream.

old victorian house gutted and very modern inside. i’m sure it exists somewhere, or would be easy to do, just expensive.

@ajillity81:  Me too!

Ideally I’d like 5-6 bedrooms (enough for kids, guests, dedicated craft room for me and office for DH), 3-4 bathrooms (and someone to clean them), chef’s kitchen with amazing appliances and a 6-burner stove.  Basement movie theater with stadium seating.  Master bedroom with a cozy sitting/reading area.  And the master bath… would be enormous.  Double sinks, whirlpool tub, double shower with multiple jets, vanity table, skylight.  Oh, and a walk in closet!

Also a huge fenced yard.

I live in the Boston area…. something like this would only be, oh, $5 million…

My dreams:

Big wraparound porch

Nice big lot with a big back yard and lots of trees – preferably backing up to a forest. A stream would be good, too.

Master bathroom with a huge stand-alone tub for bubble baths

Big kitchen with an island and plenty of counter space

A library – if we’re going to go all out, I want the one from Beauty and the Beast, but I’d settle for nice big one with shelves built into the walls.  Big leather chairs, a desk – the works.

A nice back deck with hot tub and a firepit in the backyard.

*Sigh* It looks like DH and I might settle in this area for good, which means some of that is nigh impossible.

I would have a big house that has secret passage ways and hidden rooms all over the place!

Can’t exist, wildest fantasy house: Gorgeous townhouse in NYC with a private train corridor that goes directly to our families in Maryland…

Slightly more possible house: Music studio for FI, Artist’s Studio for me, Greenhouse, dressing rooms, super modern all white marble everything, bathtubs in every bathroom, gorgeous outdoor entertaining space and a roof deck, dumbwaiters! (I always love those!), elevator, gym… you know, the usual!

adnama +1 – Got to have those secret passageways!

Also on my list:

1. Storage, storage, storage.  That means a large walk-in closet in the MB, plus many well-designed, convenient, efficient storage areas throughout the house.

2. Land.  At least 3 acres, and preferably more.  Bonus points if there is a full running trail on the property.

3. Tied into the above – huge organic vegetable garden and beautiful flower gardens.

4. Wrap-around porch – all the way around the house.

5. Turret(s), and these would house an expansive library.

6. Large, fully outfitted laundry / utility room.

7. Eat-in kitchen, big enough to bake, cook, and entertain to my heart’s content.

8. Home office…because I’ll be working until I’m 100 to pay for all of this… 🙂 🙂
