Just looking for an overall tally of what people are paying for their weddings. Across the board. Share budget breakdown if you like.
hoping for around 6-7k. I'm just starting to put all my deposits down, so i'm being stressed by budget right now.
i think all in all its around 65,000 (thats for everything except rehearsal dinner which my FMIL is hosting). That doesnt include honeymoon but we probably wont have time to go on a honeymoon after the wedding anyways, so i guess we have awhile to think about that.
We were shooting for 10K, and will probably come in about $12K. If you include the dress, rings, gifts, every crafting supply, rehearsal dinner and hair/makeup, we will probably come in about $16K.
ETA: Left out some details... that projection is for about 125 people for a peak-season evening ceremony and dinner/dancing reception with what is shaping up to be epic food. So actually, I think we're making out pretty well, in terms of bang for our buck.
With honeymoon, our 270 person wedding cost us $37K :-/. REALLY over budget. But worth every penny..and we paid for everything cash upfront, right away. So no debt!
I don't consider honeymoon part of the wedding budget at all. I don't really get including it...but our HM budget is 3k.
For the wedding, we were shooting for 12k; it looks like we'll be about 14. Not too too terribly off.
$35,000, including honeymoon but excluding rings (they were heirlooms). It will be a Sunday morning brunch for 150 people. We will be paying for it entirely by ourselves.
Around $12,000. We're going to be on budget! :)
Ugh, I hate voting in the 36-50k range. We ended up around 37k for 100 people (not including our honeymoon).
As determined by my parents, who are paying for everything: shooting for $35,000, but will likely stretch to over $40k (but not too far over)
ETA: including honeymoon (at least part of it), excluding rings. Possibly including morning-after brunch.
It was about 11-12k (1k just for rings) but ended up being about 14k. Which I was more than okay with because I got a full time job and added a few extra perks. That doesn't include the honeymoon, because we're going next month!
@atalante: our budget was 35k and we eked over at the end. Not that we couldn't afford it. Just reinforces how expensive the whole d*mn thing was.
We naively set it at $10k when we started planning. FI is trying to keep it around $16k, but we'll probably end up somewhere near $20k including rings. We're going to delay our honeymoon so I'm not including that in the budget.
my goal is 10-12 but im willing to go max 15, 000. I think it could be done. I am just in the planning stages (no bookings made) but from my research it could be done.
-planning fall 2013 wedding, with around 100 people, paying for the majority ourselfs, but my mom might help out a bit (his family is only going to come spend our money not help out *eye roll*)
20k, not including our attire (paying for ours individually), honeymoon, or rehearsal dinner.
@LGenz: did you find it waaay too easy to start planning and think: this is f-ing ridiculous for five hours of my life. People in the wedding business are making a killing!! I have thought of wedding details for years prior to my engagement, but when we started putting prices with things, I was like "this is insane!! let's take the $$ my dad is offering and RUN!". It does start to add up to a dizzying and insane amount. All for one day!!
Less than £6,000... probably about $8,000 equivalent. I would rather spend my newly wed period not stressing over how were going to pay for the day
@akp0702: The upcharge associated with the word "wedding" makes me see red. Seriously.
@akp0702: I do have to say that after the fact I don't have any regrets. I don't tell people to "ELOPE!" I loved every minute of our wedding.
I had several "how is it THAT much" moments during planning. Booking a venue actually made me sick to my stomach.
@Lulusmom: it's so true. Some of the quotes we got were so astronomical I thought it was a joke. It's a weird place to be in because even though I know the cost of this wedding is something my parents can afford and it's not like we're draining their savings or other finances, it still makes me feel bad because I know my dad would rather give us that money to start our lives. In fact if we chose to do that, he'd probably be happy to give us twice that amount if he knew it meant we'd be able to invest, save, buy a house, pay off debts, and have something to actually show for it for longer than one day .
At the same time, he assures me that they want to do it and I'm their only daughter, so I'm trying to do my best to "keep it down". Still, I find myself frequently sending him invoices with a sheepish look on my face. Most recently: over $1500 to rent 160 napkins and chargers, and 10 table overlays? WHAT?
@LGenz: Me too. It immedately ate up a HUGE portion of our budget. Our venue has a "minimum" that people must meet, so in 15 minutes we learned that having the wedding their automatically meant that any way we looked at it, we'd HAVE to spend $20k to meet their minimum. So sure, we can choose to do the cheaper buffet option, but when that bill only reaches $8k at the end of the night, my dad could have counted on an invoice for $12k more!! It's so crazy.
ETA: I have no doubts what so ever about what we've chosen. And as I said above, I know I'm not driving my parents into the poor house so that helps me feel less guilty. Plus, as the wedding gets closer, my parents get more and more excited about this amazing party they get to throw, so I know it will be worth it. I'll tell you one thing though, I'm definitely in the wrong line of wokrk!
20k, but we might be a bit over. :(
@akp0702: I am only spending what I'm spending because it is my own money, so I have to answer to each invoice. I couldn't send some of these bills to my parents with a straight face. lol. I will say that I have noticed a trend that when vendors meet with me and realize that I'm paying for this myself, they are very willing to negotiate prices. I wonder if there is a "Parent Price List" and a "Couple Price List"? hahaha
@akp0702: We have the f&b minimum too! Just signing that contract locked me into $25k of our $35k budget.
@Lulusmom: That's a good point, I bet these vendors get such a happy feeling in the pit of their stomach when they hear "yea, my dad/mom is paying". Not that that means they automatically have millions of dollars!! I am very lucky though. If FI and I were paying, we'd have about a $500 budget, haha!!
We had a $10k budget and came in under! Well, barely... but still under.
Not including rings or honeymoon, I am guessing in the $16-20k range in Atlantic Canada, but we didn't keep close track. That is considered a pretty big budget in these parts.
initially shooting for 20K when we first got engaged...but most likely around 25K now, not include honeymoon. We are paying it all and still saving money for our big day, so we can't go over the max. cap. :P
Guest is around 100-120 right now.
I say whatever your initial budget is, make room for some cushion. I almost never saw a decent wedding end up with under budget at the end.
Ours was $13,000 CAN and we were constantly told that our wedding was the best anyone had been to which felt good!! Didn't spend a lot, but still had a great day!
It was a morning ceremony/afternoon reception and then we had dinner/drinks at our house
We fed 100 guests (including ourselves, photog, 3 piece band)
Ceremony Room - $750Reception Room - $5000 minimum so we spend just over $5000 on a brunch buffet and 2 drinks per guest.Jazz Trio - $900 for 3 hoursHarpist for Ceremony/Cocktail Hour - $375Dress - $490Hair (myself, mom and 3 bridesmaids) $250 (friendor)Makeup - $80Shoes $80Photog - $1400 (including full day, and and album and all photos on a disk) She wasn't the BEST photog we found but did a really good job.Marriage Commissioner - $250Tux rental - $155STDs/Invites/Stamps - Just over $100Sashes - Purchased for $90 and reselling themVases for flowers - $40Rings - $350Cake/cupcakes - $250
We had a party at our house after and invited everyone to come - catered dinner was $500 - we ordered from a local Thai restaurant and we're regular customers so we got an outstanding dealBeer/wine/alky - $350
So far that's $11,400 - I know there's a bunch of random stuff I bought that brought us up to $13,000, I'll add when I remember!
I didn't include HM which was almost $8,000.
Centerpieces - a family friend used old barnwood and made us our own brand which we put on the tables - free!Flowers - Gift from MIL - Free!Photobooth - Surprise gift from MIL, BIL, SIL and my sister - didn't know about it until we left the ceremony! - Free!
Our wedding was right around $16k with 70 guests (including rings, RD and morning after brunch) and approximately $5k for our HM. Our original budget was $10k but I soon realized that wasn’t going to fly unless I cut a lot of the extras and that wasn’t going to happen. In all reality though, our wedding should have cost us upwards of $30k but we scored some amazing deals and cashed in on some favors. Our guests thought it cost A LOT more than it really did so that’s makes me happy!
Would like to stay under $25k not including our rings (another $1k?) or Fantastic Voyage Honeymoon which will run us 200,000 miles and probably $5k in cash.
Isn't getting married so much fun!!!!!!?
probably around 8k for 40-45 ppl. not including rings, honeymoon or flights for us back home for the wedding.
we kept it small, we are both encores. plus, we are in the middle of building a beach house in the yucatan and would rather put our money on that...i need a pool
@atalante: Where in MD are you getting married? That's sounds like an awesome deal!!!!! I totally missed out on THAT venue!
Ours is right around 4k right now...we wouldn't have been able to keep it this low except we got big discounts for doing it on a Sunday
