I love to see all of the different and creative ideas out there for wedding themes.
What is your wedding theme?? Inspiration pics please!
Oh I forgot to put mine in there! Our theme is loosely based on Wu Xing, or the Five Phases (Five Elements). Since a wedding is one step in the life cycle, we're trying to incorporate the phases (or at least the elements) into the wedding.
Tree, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water
Here is our inspiration:
Here's mine. I've designed several inspiration boards btw.
Old South meets Old Hollywood is the feel. No set theme. Just a nuance.
Our theme was to have a non-wedding wedding. More of a party for everyone to enjoy themselves at.
we didn't have a theme, just a color idea. then we found the pinwheels, and we're all about pinwheels and spring-time whimsy now
romantic-1940's-WWII-era-typewriter-and-books theme :)
haha... its hard to explain!
OKay I know this is strange but our theme is "Where is Wee?" On our second day we bought this gnome at barnes and noble. He has done everything with us sort of like the travelocity gnome. His name is Mr. Wee. We have tons of pictures of him cooking, grocery shopping, hiking, etc. So we are hiding him in pictures and things around our wedding/reception. Like where's waldo! Just something fun and different!
But we also have an island sunset theme. To be on the normal side!:-)
@FirefigherPrazsGirl: OMG. Love. It. Your guests are going to have a blast with them - not to mention your photographer! Someone will definitely be drinking with the gnome, dancing with the gnome, gnome in the flower toss? LOL. So great!
The backdrop is a whimsical garden party. Since we were friends for years before we started dating, the theme is friendship. We are encorporating tea (symbol of friendship) into several parts of the wedding, seating people who don't know each other with each other, stuff like that (more to come!)
Here's my most recent inspiration boards (no more yellow though - we nixed it)
Classically Simple? Audrey Hepburn with a modern streamlined twist? I don't know...it's just "us"
We kinda have a theme of "spring". Which you don't really have in south florida. South Florida Seasons go Summer ,Summer ,Summer, Slightly Cooler Summer!!
I am so excited for my themed wedding. Mr. Right and I are having a "Paris" themed wedding. I love the idea of Paris, and have wanted to go for as long as I can remember. We are doing black and white damask with red flower accents. Our favors are hand dipped petit fours. Each guest table is going to be a different site in Paris denoted by pictures. Our guestbook is going to be postcards at each place setting for our guests to write a message on. Each postcard will correspond with what site the table is denoted as. I have had lots of ideas, but always welcome to more so feel free to PM me and give much warranted advice.
I keep saying "it's just a big party...with a wedding theme" ha.
Actually, we really wanted to do something destination, but decided against due to the cost that would be incurred by those we really wanted there, so we decided to bring the destination to us.
Ceremony will be in a park, people will have to walk about .5 miles and then we'll be married underneath a stand of old growth trees.
Reception will be in a log cabin club that reminds us of being in a mountain lodge.
Basically, we hope our friends and family feel like they're experiencing a Rocky Mountain wedding in the midst of metro Detroit. We're using vintage Nat'l Park postcards as our table numbers and escort cards. And our menu and drink options will be similar to what you'd get if you were visiting a rocky mountain restaurant.
If I had to name the theme, I would say, "garden". We had topiaries for the center pieces and the venue was a historical mansion.
My theme was "summer daisies" mixed with an education theme. I'm going to try to attach some inspiration boards I made from our wedding.
i wouldn't say that there is an overall theme to our wedding. just a color scheme and possibly incorporating some wine elements, since we're getting married at a winery.
We don't have a set theme, but the general idea is simple-outdoorsy-casual with some whimsical and bicycle related details.
Oh my- I am not an over acheiver to be making inspiration boards... But our theme is laid back outdoor garden bed and breakfast feel with spanish wine, spanish music... and lots of love. The colors are rustic to help set the tone...
I guess it would be best to describe it on a feeling. Has anyone been to the southern most part of Spain? Granada or Sevilla? It's like that laid back siesta moroccan feeling they have down there.
We have two Spanish guitarists, a cellist to play music during the outdoor garden ceremony and cocktail hour to set the mood. And the menu is all Spanish food like tapas, fruit, sangria, horchata...
It was more a feeling of casual laidbackness we were trying to acheive...
@Caliocteach: Oh you posted some pics and I recognize Royce Hall archways! Nice!
We had lots of birds in our wedding. There are even birds on my new china :)
Mine is Alice in Wonderland. But not gothic red-and-black Alice in Wonderland, or omg-it's-a-six-year-old's-birthday Alice in Wonderland, but the classy, summery, Disneyland-in-the-50s Alice in Wonderland. It's always been one of my favorite Disney movies and one of my favorite books, plus I spent a semester working in Walt Disney World. Love me some classic Disney.
Our theme is a mix of Classic New England with starfish accents. I know starfish aren't the first thing you think of when doing a NE theme, but I love them and the reception is on the beach.
Since I am getting married on a Hot August night, I am opting for a Beach theme with cream and aqua and star fish. The venue doesn't want us to get married in the sand indoors, but we'll have a backdrop or some props I am sure.
Like Sparkles, we are also doing a Spanish inspired wedding. My fiance and I met in Sevilla so we are having "tapas hour", sangria, using tiles for decoration and lots of red and orange flowers mixed with dark brown accents. I am still looking for ideas so if anyone has inspiration, send it my way!
We're trying to pull off the "classic wedding" look with a black and white theme....but to keep it from coming off too drab, we're adding a bit of a "spark" with purple accents.
My inspiration came from this...

Can you say GORGEOUS?! (my favorite pic is the table setting, with black and white damask!)
Firefighter_Prazs_Girl love your wedding gnome!
We are still trying to decide on a theme. We were originally going to do love birds but that seems very generic for our quirky personalities. Our colors are yellow and pewter and we are looking for a clever theme. Any ideas?
Ours isn't the most unique, but we're using cherry blossoms as our design focus (May wedding) and pink, brown, cream, and ivory as guiding the colors. I've always loved cherry blossoms ever since I saw the blooms in Washington D.C. on a class trip, and they just feel so light and airy and springy :)
Cherry blossoms! My fiance proposed under a cherry blossom tree in DC during the festival. :) My theme sort of just fell into my lap!
Our "theme" is pretty much just celebrating nature and the outdoors. Our venue is kind of our theme too (www.thorpewood.org for anyone who is interested). Our wedding is very "us" and fun. So I guess we don't really have a theme just a "Feel". :)
Our theme is kinda just an idea or adaptation... we're using Cinderella, Enchanted, Disney inspirations and making it our own... My Fiance and I are HUGE Disney fans and he always calls me his princess so it's just PERFECT!! :-)
hmm.. yeah i guess i don't really have a theme... i guess the "feel" i want is modern elegance. My FI and i have been together for a long time so i want to incorporate alot of pictures of us through the years...haha..is that a theme?
you all have such awesome ideas/themes btw!! i can't wait to see pictures on how your themes develop within the details!
Our theme is photos. Photos of us, photos of family. We're using photos wherever I can sneak them in (STD's, escort cards, table numbers... hoping to have some sort of photo booth too!)
Ours is preppy garden lush vintage...DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE? I dunno...It's a work in process. :)
I chose the third option because we don't really have a theme, but our colors are red and white with silver accents and we are using calla lilies as our main flower with other red flowers (not sure what yet) as accents. Other than that, nothing really goes together, just lots of red and white.
Ours is "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You", although it will be used very mildly. :)
I like to call my wedding vintage flavored. I am doing a timeless (i hope) dress with a birdcage veil at an observatory built in the 1920's. We are having the ceremony in a funky (not vintage ) movie theatre but I am sort of doing a lace/pearls/yellow/ vintage theme i guess you could say for the reception. our invitations will be kind of crazy i'll post a pic here of my trial run which i wrote on with sharpie and not in any way printed or finished. Also the table setting is on my table and for one person lol.
