Since we paid for our whole wedding, we just exchanged letters. We both wrote them to each other when we woke up on our wedding day, and then had our Best Man/Maid of Honor deliver them to each other's hotel room before the ceremony.
Sorry I don't have better gift ideas! I think your ukelele idea is cute, though.
I got my husband a nice watch (Citizen Ecodrive which is sun powered) as well as a pair of cufflnks that have real 4 leaf clovers in them - he loved them! Then we also wrote each other letters and his BM came to my house and gave his letter to me and took my letter back to him.
I will give DH an antique pocket watch with chain and a pair of orange Ray Bans. Orange is one of his pro lacrosse (NLL) team colors!
I got my husband cuffllinka with 314 on them. 314 is pi which means infinity and he has a physics degree :) It also happens to be the number of the first apartment we lived in together!! :)
awww i am going to get fi cufflinks from etsy... and boudoir photos. i want to give him the album the day of :)
I'm getting him binoculars - not romantic, but he's outdoorsy, and he needs new ones, so it's practical, and I know that he'll love it.
I'm going to put a tag that says somthing to the effect of 'seeing a long happy future together'
he'll be suprised. He might send me flowers, but i don't expect so. He has no sisters to tell him that he should do that, and him mom would never think of it. THen again, I don't really mind, I love him just the way he is.
I got him this:

Kenneth Cole leather Messenger Bag.
He got me an awesome vintage pearl necklace! :)
@Moose1209: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh soooooo cute!!! when did u give it to him lol?
Pup came home about a month before the wedding. He's not such a cute little butterball any more though! Now he's a big boy who still likes to think he fits in my lap : ) Hubs bought me diamond earrings and gave them to me on the wedding day so I basically got double presents!!
We didn't exchange gifts, but I love your idea of the koa ukelele. It will be so personal to your wedding and he'll think of it whenever he plays.
I got him a really nice watch. I don't think he is getting me anything, although I told him that he already bought me my wedding shoes and is willing to get a videographer, so those can be my presents : )
I think it would be nice just to exchange letters and might do that. I personally don't need a gift from him and all he requests is a grooms cake, although I don't know if that counts as a gift.
I'm tossing two ideas... one is a decent watch... but he's never really been a watch guy. I'm not sure if that's because he's never owned one or he's just not a watch guy.
My other idea was personalized license plates... but then I thought that might be silly!
Thoughts?
I am going the boudoir photo album route just because he has told me that is something that he would love. However, in your boat, I think the idea of getting him a ukulele is so perfect. It would be great since he already has said he wants to learn to play it and it would be the perfect reminder of your wedding with your wedding in Hawaii. Very cute idea.
Thanks, Bees!
I LOVE all of the ideas and what you all have done/are doing! The puppy one was so awesome, but we already have a dog. From your responses, I'm liking the koa ukelele idea more and more...
I might do beach bikini pictures, I've wanted to do that for years, but just need to get myself in swimsuit-shape! Ha!
Question...what would he do with boudoir/bikini pictures? If we are going to be married, then he would see that (me naked or almost naked) all the time, right? Or do you display it in your house? Make a photo album or something? Frame it by the bed? Or is it something just to remind him of what you "used" to look like, pre-wedding, pre-babies, when you were hot?
Ummm, I'm giving him a wife? Haha, I don't think we'll be exchanging gifts - we're trying to save for a house and don't spend a lot of money on extras these days!
He always dreamed of being a pilot, so I'm buying him flying lessons! Also I'll be giving him cuff links to wear the day of.
I had boudior pics for mine. We didn't really do an official exchanging of gifts because we were moving right after the wedding and needed money.
I gave him abstract snowflake cufflinks on our wedding day and on our honeymoon I bought him a watch (Yay Citizen Ecodrive!). I got a cashmere scarf (which he steals).
I want to give my groom a flip camera - to symbolize the memories that we will make together as husband and wife. We also aren't going to have a videographer, so at least we can have some videoed moments of us candidly on it too!
We decided that we won't be giving gifts. Instead we will be writting a little note to one another and we'll have our best man/maid of honor deliver it for us the morning of.
We're not doing gifts. That whole giving ourselves to one another for life thing seemed present enough ;-)
I had never heard of a gift that you get your groom before being part of wedding sites. I thought giving yourself to one another was enough. In actuality we have extremely splurged on our honeymoon (diving on the great barrier reef and Turtle Island) and this is our present to each other. We also splurged on our wedding bands which I just love!
I thought about boudoir photos...but he said he doesnt want them, i got him a watch for his engagement gift....we're spending the night before the wedding together, so maybe just go out for an awesome breakfast with champagne before we part ways to get ready (hair appt isnt til 4pm)? We are doing letters as well.
I LOVE the uke idea, that's sweet and memorable.
I am actually thinking about getting my groom a tatto. It would be his first and it is something that he has wanted to do a few times but something finacially has sprang up and prevented it from happening.
We are also talking about both getting something similar too. He wants a tribal and I already have a cross on my lower back so maybe i will get a mini version of it around my cross.
Its really so up in the air as when to do though. I love the letter idea and I also thought about a golf cart, he loves those things. We drag race so its pretty helpful to have at the track with us.
I gave my husband.....ME! We talked about exchanging gifts, but in the end decided that the best gift was ourselves and we would have plenty of things to remind us of the wedding (pictures, video).
42" LED TV that I will have the Groomsmen install the weekend of the wedding. We have our wedding at a vacation rental 45 minutes away and will be staying on-site for the weekend. Then I will ask the Groomsmen to take pictures with their feet up, beer on hand watching his brand new TV...haha! I'll give him a card on the day-of along with the picture. He'll get a kick out of it and will want to get home ASAP.
He has been asking for one since Christmas of last year and I just saw one at Costco for $599. They are getting cheaper which makes me happy. I was told that TV's are deeply discounted around SuperBowl which is 4 months too early. I may just have to buy it and store it somewhere else.
I gave my hubby Mercedes cuff links and a heart-warming letter. He cried like a baby when he received both prior to the ceremony.
His gift to me was the reception of my dreams (since my family couldn't afford it). We had the time of our lives!
Silver cufflinks with a Swarovski crystal in each. From ebay. He loves when I do that--very frugal guy.

I know...my wedding is still a year out, but I can't stop thinking about it...I want every detail to be covered! I'm now on to the groom's gift. I know some don't do this, but I'm planning to. I've already given my FI Tiffany cufflinks and a fancy watch, and don't want to buy electronics. I've thought about buying him another guitar since his passion is playing the guitar. Or, a koa ukelele since we are getting married in Hawaii and he wants to learn to play. I want it to be something he'll keep forever and that will remind him of our wedding day.
Tell me, Bees, what did you present your groom with on the wedding day?
