Are you staying in a resort or hotels? Here is what I put (we are staying at an all inclusive in the Bahamas), you can PM me and Ill send you a link so you can look at it in more detail if you’d like..I added fun little comments to each “item” as well explaining a little so that it is clear that it isn’t just them giving us random money. I still have some work to do on it but haven’t gotten that far.

Swim with Dolphins

Waterfall expedition

City shopping

We are going to add some items that give us the opportunity to experience more outside of the touristy areas too

I had a friend do one of these with great little details. Here are some of the things she had on hers:

Fun dinner for two: Treat us to dinner at Mama’s Fish House

Rental Car: Help us rent a convertible for $60/day!

Hotel in Hana: Help us stay a little longer in Hana by getting a room for a night!

Horseback Riding in Hana

Spa Day for Sophie: A manicure and facial at the Westin Maui

We’re doing a honeymoon registry also – and we’re just being sure that if we do have a specific “item/experience” that someone purchases that you actually do it!  We’re thinking of taking snapshots of each thing gifted to us to send back with out Thank You cards so it doesn’t feel like we’re just asking for money.

We have ours themed as “lessons for life” type experiences:

– fancy bottle of wine (“learning to share”)

– day at the spa/sauna (“don’t sweat the small stuff”)

– postcards and maps (“communication/navigation”)

– souveniers at the marketplace (“negotiation”)

And one of my favorites is “relinguish control” – where we want our guests to tell US what to do and they want us to learn while doing it.

You could break it down by activity:  maybe a day in the jungle (hiking boots/guide or permit – “perserverance”), maybe you need protection from the elements – ie: bug-spray/sunblock/aloe (super-practical, but some guests like to give super practical gifts!), cooking lessons, kayak rental ….

I’ve also seen some which break down airfare in smaller increments and nights in the hotel – this might depend on the personality of your guests.  I know ours wouldn’t be into it all all, but yours might be.
