I know many of you are planning on getting a pet, so tell us what kind of pet you're considering!  Mr. Bee and I have two cats, but we're big dog people.  I like big dogs like the Bernese Mountain Dog, Labs, Goldendoodles (so cute!), Newfoundlands, Chow Chows.... He's partial to yorkies because he bred them growing up.

Ultimately we'd love to live some place a little rural so I could have a pet pig, along with a couple of other small farm animals.

What type of pet do you want?

I am totally a dog person!  I would love to have an Akita or Siberian Husky.  However, my wonderful fiance is allergic so alas, no Akita in my future.  I wouldn't mind a Shih Tzu or Maltese since they're hypoallergenic but the FI says no to that too so, maybe we'll just get some fish???

I have one kitty, and it looks like he's going to get his sister's kitty too, yay! (she has a big dog that's stressing out the poor little cat), so obviously, I like cats! But we really want a dog later on, once we're not moving around and living in downtown apartments. Hopefully we can find a good little lapdog-sized mutt at the shelter. I don't really believe in getting purebreds, since they cost too much and a lot of times have serious problems because of being so overbred. But a sweet little mutt with the right personality type would be great!

I want a dog (from the Humane Society) that is 40 or so pounds. he wants an 80 lb dog...so I think we're going to settle for a 60 lb one.

I'm crossing my fingers that he'll fall in love with a dog on the smaller side....

After not having a dog in the house for nearly a year, I'm really jonesing for some puppy love!  I'm trying to find a small Spaniel this spring - probably a Cavalier King Charles or possibly a Springer, if the right litter shows up.  Cross your fingers!  I already have a horse (whee!) but I can't really cuddle with him on the couch....

We rescued a shih tzu after we got engaged and I would love to get another dog for him to play with once we have some more room. Our dog is handicapped and we both have a real soft spot for special needs animals... I can see us with a whole clan of three legged dogs and blind cats... What kind of pet do you want? : wedding pets dogs Icon Biggrin

My Fi and I were planning on getting a dog a couple weeks ago, but just with out work schedules it wasn't the right time.  Eventually we would like to get a Daschaund and a Brittany Spaniel.  The Brittany is for my FI and the Daschaund would be for me! I grew up with weenie dogs and I want a smaller lap dog so badly!!!!

I'm with you Mrs. Bee!  I want some land to have a whole menagerie!  We have 2 dogs now- a grumpy 11 year old maltese and an over eager 60 lb. Plott hound.  My FI has banned me from entering any and all shelters lest I started adopting more and become a crazy dog lady.  I'm definitely hoping to have chickens and goats a few years down the road.  A bit difficult in our current suburban Chicago home, though!

I'm a big dog person.  I love labrador retrievers and grew up witht them.  It will probably be awhile before we have a house big enough for one though.  We are talking about getting a miniature schnauzer.  That was the first kind of dog my parents had.

FI wants a dog so badly!  We live in apartments though, and neither of us can just can't justify spending the additional amount to have a pet.  We also don't feel we are home enough or that they would have enough space right now.  Maybe after we get married I'll get him a dog....but then comes another issue.  I may not be the biggest pet person, but if I had a pet, I think I would just feel so badly leaving them outside that I would want them to come inside.  The problem with that is that I absolutely cannot stand pet hair being on the floor, the furniture, me....In the end, we'll probably end up with a dog and will compromise on where it stays (outside in a nice weather appropriate home, in the garage, or in a specified location inside)...guess we'll have to wait a few more months and see!

We currently have two little dogs a silky terrier and a mini doxie. We are desperately looking for a puppy boxer, we both want to add a big dog to the mix. We love animals and are always rescuing something (cats, dogs, birds, whatever, lol)

We both want a Sharpie (spelling?) so badly! And I definately want a cat as well. (He's not a big fan of cats but I figure he'll grow to love it - or ignore it) Unfortunately we have to wait until we settle in one country or another before "starting our family"

I'm with you Mrs. Bee! Boy and I want a Bernese Mountain Dog to be our family pet once we get a bigger place (we're in a townhouse now).  We currently have two cats and a dog, who is a minature American Eskimo.  He's actually a great size to have in a townhouse: smaller than a jack russel, but bigger than a shitzu or a yorkie.

Getting a dog was a huge step for us because it meant that we were really in this forever.  I would really reccommend doing research on the breeds before you visit your shelter so that you know what kind of doggie fits your new family best.  Our dog, Jack-Jack, is very high energy and needs a lot of attention.  That's perfect for us, who are both hyperactive :), but lots of eskies end up in rescue because people see a fluffy white puppy and make an impulse buy.

I love my pooper (my dog). She's a terror but she's getting a lot better with training. She went through at least 3 different homes in a rather short period of time before we adopted her and she was only 2 days short of termination. So I'm all for adopting , but.... IF I could get another dog I would really want a Chinese Crested Hairless. FI is fully aware if this and he knows , he's even said someday we can have one , just probably after kids.

FH and I already have the sweetest westie-mix in the world, but I'd love to have a cat again some day (though he's allergic... boo). We'd also love to add a scottie or a cairn terrier to our family at some point. :)
