Help! I want to make my dress look more like it does on the model! What kind of petticoat is she wearing? I’ve tried several kinds and no luck. In the picture the dress flares out a lot more than it does on me. Any suggestions?

Did you try a hoop or crinoline? Hoop is going to hold it out white crinoline may flatten a little.

I tried both, the hoop didn’t work at all because it made a weird dent in it.. you could see the shape of the hoop

@Justdarkblue: First of all, you’re standing on an elevated platform, so the bottom of your gown isn’t touching the floor, and hers is. Second, remember that she isn’t just a model who put on a dress and just stood there. Someone art directed this photo shoot, and it’s very likely that someone, or, more likely, several someones, spent a lot of time positioning this model and the skirt of this dress to look exactly as it does.

@Brielle: well yes I know this, but as you can see her dress really isn’t being held out by the ground, its very slightly above it, especially where it flares out on the sides. I was just wondering if there was a petticoat that makes this shape. Maybe more layers?

@Justdarkblue: Your dress is gorgeous! Love the detail

When you tried the hoop skirt, how many hoops were in it? If it was just one at the bottom, then try a drop waisted hoop skirt with 3 or 4 hoops and some extra crinoline, then it might not dent.

@Justdarkblue: I would get a mermaid slip. I had a dropped waist ball gown and it was just enough to give me the volume I wanted.
