I always thought I wanted something that was solitaire setting.
However, when I saw some halo settings I went nuts!
I was like “Oh my… So bling bling!!!”
Then my SO did not like it much. He said he likes solitaire setting because of its simplicity.
So~~~~ I ended up with this ring.
Something simple but still blingy!
In the end I was happy and he was happy. 🙂
Such a cute pretty ring!
What kind of ring did you envision?
Did you get something that you envisioned?

I honestly love the Eterinty Band look, and always enjoyed Solitaires – but my SO wanted a ring that had a solid metal ring around it – not the dainty eternity type. (He’s a Miner – so he really understand the value of the metals and durablity of Platinum).
We fond something that suited us both:

@ChantelleJoy: Oh my god… your ring is soooo gorgeous. What kind of stone is it? It is so beautiful!!!! > <

It’s a Purple Sapphire. Fiancee and I don’t really care for diamonds, and fell in love with this particular gem, when we were given some Sapphire & Tanzanite options).
Feel free to see more pics here ! I just got it on Saturday!

I wanted much bigger for the original ring which was a .55c princess and for our 15th annivesary I got an upgrade of 1.02ct so I am much happier but now I am going to be adding a halo to it because I have always wanted one….after that I am done …no more wanting for me…lol

I wanted a halo style and went to Tiffany’s here in Ireland with FI to look at the Legacy but it just didnt grab me. Got very disappointed and tried some other styles in various jewellers but still no spark. Then out of frsutration I tried on a solitaire and got the spark immediately! Got excited and dragged my FI to see one on me and he confessed that he didnt get any vibe off the halo style for me but he was crazy about a solitaire on my hand.
So we went online and bought our diamond and setting and still nearly 5 months on I stare at it waay too much every day!

Well, I did not envision any style originally. I never was a ring/jewelery person beforehand. I wore the same plain gold studs in my ears only for years, or hoops, only taking them out to clean 1x a week. Which worked out great, as I ended up having a ringless proposal!
It just caused issues determing later what I DID want! I went to many stores and tried on lots of rings during our short engagement. I still could not figure it out, so we married without me ever having got an engagement ring. I then went through one wedding ring, and one wedding set, both of which not only did I have allergy issues with but also with which I soon determined were not my style and I was going with them for reasons that were not “me” really, before figuring out exactly what I wanted, over 2 years into our marriage. A moissanite OEC, in yellow gold, bezel and no prongs at all. I LOVE them and LOVE wearing them. It took me a while, but it all worked out!

At the beginning of my “waiting” stage, I was sure I wanted a bezel solitaire. Then for a while I was in love with anniversary bands as a wedding ring. I’m not really sure how it happened, but finally I found a plain shank halo that I loved, and that was SO’s favorite of the settings I liked, too. It’s what I ended up with and I’m very happy.

Liked the look of halo and ended up with a halo. Almost exactly what I was thinking, except I wanted a thicker band. Once the wedding band is added, it will be closer to what I had in mind.

When I drew pictures of rings, they always had bows on them. For as much of a hard @$$ as I am during the day, and being one of the boys growing up, my inner girl squeels for bows! Also, my favorite color is blue, so the rings I envisioned usually had blue in them. When I saw my ring, it was like everything fell into place in one cohesive vision. Truly the ring of my dreams 🙂

I got exactly what I envisioned, very similar to yours but round

A solitaire – round cushion or pear… maybe with 2 triangular side stones if it was cushion or pear. FI didn’t like these much and thought they were too plain so he got a cushion halo which I’m absolutely in love with and can’t stop staring at, even though I’ve had for 7 months…

I always envisioned a 3-stone diamond e-ring. He took it a few steps further and chose one with pave diamonds on three sides of the band too. =)

I never really though about it unti we went shopping together, but after the first trip a ring very similar to this was the front-runner:
Then our salesgirl called us one day about something new that had come into the store, and DH and I absolutely fell in love! This is what I ended up with (using stock photo for better comparison to stock above)

I loved the halos, then ended up buying myself a lime quartz in a halo setting for Christmas a few years ago. So when it came to engagement rings, I decided I didn’t want one that kind of looked like a right hand ring I already owned, and my fiance agreed — plus we both agreed that a diamond halo around a diamond solitaire kind of takes away from the big diamond itself and we wanted the focus to be on the stone.
So when my fiance made the final decision he went with a raised solitaire in a halo-like setting.
