    Hi, I am trying to buy a home in the next few months and just wondering who  others used as their lender and what credit score did you have that qualified you? Thanks!

    We used Countrywide and our scores were around 830 I believe.  Not helpful I know!  Our rate was 6.25% back in 2007.

    You should consider going to a mortgage broker, they can tell you different rates for local banks.

    @wlahey:

    I believe our original lender was American Home, but was then sold to Wells Fargo 2 mths later. We went through our builder so I can't remember who exactly. I know they had a minimum requirement of a credit score of 670 or you would not qualify. Mine was 720 but my hubs was 810.

    2006 - 5.375% - 7 year ARM - Citi

    2008 - 6.625% (investment property) - 30 year fixed - Wells Fargo

    2010 - 5.125% - 30 year fixed - Nationstar

    Credit Score - High 700's

    P.S. Go through a broker, not a bank. They will get you the best rate because they can shop around to many different lenders. At a bank, you are locked into their product offering and rates, there is no negotiation room.

    We went through two lenders. The first was USAA where we used both our credit scores.. we ended up dropping our mortgage with them because they are inept.

    His score: 715 Mine: 730 Interest rate: 4.8 percent

    We ended up going through Bank of America. They were pretty awesome- we just used his credit this time (I have student loans which really hindered how much we could get). Our mortgage interest rate is 4.65 percent

    We used Wells fargo. I have horrible credit so I was worried (620) but my fiance's is something around 780 so maybe that helped. Our interest rate is 4.25!
