I’ve ordered my dress but am struggling with what kind of veil will suit.
Its an ivory tulle mermaid gown, with lace up back. Any thoughts? I don’t want to get the wrong length and look cut in half or drowned in too much tulle – help!

I think it depends on your style and the wedding you are having. I could envision a birdcage veil with this, but would probably opt for a raw-edge cathedral veil…it won’t be too much tulle, don’t worry!

Definitely a cathedral veil!

I agree with @babycakes24, I could probably see a birdcage veil with this as well, though I am partial to birdcage veils 🙂

I am not a fan of birdcage veils so I would personally steer clear of that. I would do a finger tip tulle veil with some volume to it!

I think you could go fingertip (for a more modern look) or cathedral/chapel depending on how long your train is. Either would look gorgeous!

Hard to see the details of dress, but it appears to be a modern ruching type of dress, and the only detail I see on the back is the crisscross of the, what I call “boPeep” strings. So, here is what I am thinking, depending on venue:
A multi layered veil, 2 lengths. I would have either a piped edging or fabric edging, to define and frame you. You can also include some random detail scattered across the veil, as the dress appears to be minus any bling, I think.

I also don’t really like bird cage veils. I think a cathedral length veil would be great with your dress, maybe raw edge. Lace would be beautiful too especially since there isn’t any lace on your dress to compete with

Cathedral..I think they are so dreamy!

Thanks everyone for your comments, I think I’ll have to go try some more on to decide 🙂
I’m not a huge fan of the bird cage style, and think I need some floaty veil to help with the princess for a day fantasy Lol
I like the idea of some detail on there too, diamante or pearls maybe to pick up the jewellery I plan to wear.
I’ll keep you all posted once I decide, loving the boards 🙂

I can always love a nice cathedral veil with fitted dresses. .. it always looks great. However, I can actually really see this dress with something modern and fun like a two tier bubble veil also. Just depends on your personality and the style of your wedding. Love the dress!

Lovely dress, I’d say a Cathedral veil so that it doesn’t cut the dress in half where it trumpets out.

@stokiebride: good luck and have fun! the cathedral veils with scattered crystals are gorgeous…that would add a touch of bling, while not going overboard so you could do it up with earrings and a nice bracelet.
