David’s Bridal def has plus sizes. Wtoo also goes to size 24. Bill Levkoff goes to size 28. I think as long as you stick with the “regular” designers you won’t have a problem!

@Miss Clover:  I bought Jim Hjelm bridesmaids dresses and they had a range of sizes. Anything over a size 18 is an extra charge though, I think $20.

I’m using Alfred Angelo, and they have been ordred in from size 2 to size 18.  I’m sure there would be more sizes if I needed them.

David’s Bridal should cary plus sizes to try on, but they aren’t going to have it in everything.  That’s going to be all designers/dress shops, unfortunatly.  Thats kind of the sad thing about shopping for bridesmaid dresses as a plus size.  My size 18 friend tried on nothing.  My size 16 FSIL tried on a couple, but most of them wouln’t exactly fit.  We had my size 2 friend try on most things to get an idea of what they looked like, and then guessed from there.

I had the worst time shopping for bm dresses at house of brides.  They have some nice dresses (though the samples aren’t good quality and they cut out the designer so you cant price compare) but horrible service.

My sister is about a zero and my bridesmaid is a size 18 bridal (smallest plus size). And we ended up getting bill levkoff dresses at a different store (brides by demetrios).  We had no problem. The sample sizes where too big for my sister and too small for her but about right for another bridesmaid. They could still try on the dresses and get an idea of what it might look like in her size.  The consultant was super helpful and we found a dress that will work for all their sizes and shapes.   Like with other designers, they do charge 20 extra for 18 and bigger.

Even if they don’t have the larger sizes in the store to try on most designers make them. You can order whatever size you need.

David’s Bridal absolutely has plus sizes and will have them available in store for your friend to try on with the other bridesmaids. The other thing about DB is that they size true to street size rather than using bridal sizing.

Tevolio (Target’s bridesmaid dress line) also sizes true to street size and I believe their dresses go up to size 24. They have some super cute stuff and most of their dresses are in the $70 range, so they’re very affordable.
