I came across a picture of a bride surrounded by her bridesmaids in champagne and from there I thought "mmm champagne pink" and it transformed into this romantic, pretty, timeless inspiration board in my head
I didn't want fall colors and I love pink but I didn't want to do just pink. So I've added different shades of pinks, oranges, and creams/ivory's.
I knew I wanted bright, summery colors, but I also wanted them to be a bit "richer" than pinks and yellows. We went to a hardware store and played around with paint chips until we had combo we loved!
I showed my FI lots of pictures of different style weddings from various wedding blogs...but I knew he didnt want anything "too girly"...and we decided on a Bee theme in lieu of a monogram. His nickname is B..and my last name starts with a B as well...So then we thought of yellow-which we both really like and its cheery for summer...and then we decided on Grey because its slightly more masculin and can offer a modern-ish vibe to a wedding that I am trying my hardest to make country/vintage chic :) hah Also, our venue is a heritage building so it has old stone walls...the yellow and grey accents really are picked up in the architecture.
there was no question that pink's going to be our color! we wanted it to be a spring wedding, so that was the main inspiration... even when the date got pushed up to feb. we're still having brighter, flowery dresses. the colors make me happy!
We are getting married at a rustic venue, so once we booked that, it just confirmed the colors I was toying with... Chocolate Brown, Copper, and Latte.
The venue is all done in these colors, it's a fall wedding, and things just seemed to fit. We are using a few deep reds and oranges mixed in as well. I love the way it makes everything look magical.
Oh my gosh, I changed my mind so many times with colors! First, it was sage green and chocolate brown. Then I thought I had settled on teal blue and orange. That evolved into plum purple and orange because plum is one of my favorite colors. My cousin, who's a graphic designer, actually inspired me by putting together some images in photoshop. Plus, it seemed last season, everywhere I went, I saw plum purple and spice orange in fashion, so it was a sign :)
My BMs are wearing plum dresses and carrying orange bouquets. It looks lovely.
My story is funny b/c I hate pink if it's not hot pink/fuschia color. When we first got engaged I told the mister I want a sunset beach wedding and was thinking of corals, coppers, champagne colors but playing around with a virtual wedding party he liked the pink and I agreed to pink if and only if we made it mean something...so since I've been involved with the Susan G Komen foundation it was only fit to make the theme "Think Pink - celebration of life"
i worked with the local scenery and a not so literal nautical / preppy references. Married over the water? Blues. Good contrast for blue? Pink (orange too college teamy). Boom.
I picked my favorite colors: green and brown. :)
I chose a feel first (simply elegant), which led me to black and white. But then I threw in pale yellow as an accent color to add a little fun!
We met and fell in love while I was living in Hawaii, and we were marrying on the beach in my hometown. Since I am not a fan of the kistchy beach feel, going "tropical" with bright colors and exotic looking flowers seemed the perfect way to go!
I had no ideas about colors until we found the Bridesmaids' dresses (Macy's). They are dark teal, so I decided I wanted bright color flowers to pop off of the dresses (oranges, reds, fuschias, etc). I then went to Paper Source to get the invite supplies and ended up with cream and papaya. So, in the end, I have the colors of dark teal, orange, cream/ivory & silver accents as my colors. It was completely organic in its development, but I love it!
i wanted bright happy colors. when i found out i could have sunflowers (my fave) and gerber daisies, that quickly transitioned into chirpy yellows and vibrant oranges
Love your inspiration board! My engagement ring inspired my wedding colors. FI gave me a sapphirre engagement ring with a beautiful deep, but bright blue sapphire. Next, I found a tri-colored swatch (I have no idea where I found it!) online with the exact blue I wanted paired with silver (which I have always loved), and a warm olive green.
I found a wedding on SWSMag.net and fell in love with the colors the table setting, etc. So I wanted to follow the same color scheme but using my favorite flowers etc. I had been pulled a different direction for a couple months but went back to the original. Go figure!
I have looked at so many inspiration boards over the last few months it is ridiculous.
For this summer some popular colors I've noticed have been really really BRIGHT [bordering on neon] colours; pink/green; blue/orange; navy/pink;
Usually people go with darker colours for fall/winter, lighter 'pastel'-ish colours for spring/early summer & as for summer, anything goes really but popular choices are bright colours.
Red & white gets used alot for its romantic considerations [think Valentines Day!]; though IMHO red & white always looks classy. If I were doing a more formal nov-march dated wedding red & white definitely would've been near the top of my considerations.
Red is my favorite color so I knew that had to be involved somehow. Luckily we decided on a fall wedding so the girls dresses are burgundy with a beige ribbon. I am worried sometimes that it could look a little Christmas-y which I don't want but I think with the flowers (deep reds, oranges, yellows) it will look like fall. Let's hope so anyway...
I didn't choose colors. I ended up tying things together with some moss green on the paper products and brown ribbon on my vases.
I actually chose my flowers, though, from seeing rannunculus for the first time on Etsy in silk. I thought it was gorgeous! So I bought assorted colors of rannunculus and put them in many clear vases. I love those flowers. I put them as my avatar.
Once I found my dress, everything else fell into place. In the model photo for JA 8465, the shoes have bright, warm yellow soles, and that color just seemed to pop. So then I searched for "yellow weddings" on the Knot and found one in particular that had a mix of yellow and gray, and the kind of half-fancy, half-casual vibe we wanted. I am stealing a ton of their ideas! And I'm having my florist exactly replicate the bride's bouquet.

Also I talked to my designer friend who is doing our invites, and she asked me what kind of flowers I like. I showed her this and said, although tulips are my favorite flower, they didn't have the "open" vibe of that bouquet I liked. She then helped me realize I love more literally "open," non-tightly closed flowers and helped me find some to tell my florist about: peonies, mums, etc.
Also, I had looked a lot on this blog before I found my dress, and I think the yellow/gray combo was already speaking to me subconsciously. I highly recommend this blog for anyone looking for color combos!
