I wear no make-up daily.
When I do go out, I wear Mascara, a dash of blush and lip gloss. I'm very low maintenance.
I am trying to figure out how much makeup I'll wear on my day as well, without looking too "done up" or "overdone."
Day to day I wear foundation, mascara, blush, some moisturizer (if my face is dry/sunburned) and a swab of chapstick. On the day I'm looking at wearing concealer, foundation, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, blush, powder, and lipstick. Whew! Is that too much?
I always put on moisturizer. I don't usually leave unless I've put on a little of my Bare Minerals, some mascara, and finish it off with chapstick. I'm pretty low-maintenance.
My makeup wearing is dicated on a day to day basis by my skin. I have eczema and psoriasis as well as another type of dermatitis. Basically one day I will wake up with my fase feeling great, and ill wear some makeup, usually just eye stuff. Other days I will be puffy, rashy, itchy, and sore so I wont wear anything but my topical medicine.... its a fun life I telly ya...
for my wedding day I plan on wearing some makeup. I will wear some translucent powder for shinyness, and then some eye stuff, that is it, it will be what I wear everyday. I am oging to do it myself. Mostly because I have to wear all talc free stuff amd i know that is what I have and all I have at home, and becuase I dont want to look different on that day. I would rather do it myself and look like myself than go in, pay a lot for it, and it not be me...
I moisturize with a lotion that has some bronzer in it. Then put concealer on any places that need it. I also wear eye liner, mascara and blush. On special days, I will put on some eye shadow. I also wear lip gloss with a tiny hint of color.
For the wedding, I will wear all stuff I normally do (plus eye shadow cause it is a VERY special day) and some not-too-bright lip stick.
MoSnow, I think that will be just fine!
wow - i'm everything but foundation and lip color! i don't do lipstick ever, only gloss. i have my makeup routine down to 10 minutes in the morning and 20 if i'm going full on glam.
i did an in between look for my wedding day. i didn't want the dark smokey eyes i usually sport on the weekends but i wanted to bump it up for the photos.
I forgot concealer! I added that to the poll.
@MoSnow, I don't think that what you're suggesting for your wedding day is necessarily too much. Have you given it a test run yet? I actually had my makeup artist redo my makeup on my wedding day because I thought I looked overdone. The real culprit was that the foundation looked too thick and obliterated my freckles. So to me that is one of the most important things to get right. If your eye makeup is extra fancy, for example, then you'll look dressed up, but if your foundation is wrong the whole canvas of your face looks out of whack.
I always apply moisturizer before i put my make up on, then I wear foundation, a little loose powder, blush, mascara, and a little eyeshadow. When I go out at night I wear eyeliner.
For my wedding day, I want to focus on my eyes. It will somewhat normal for me b/c at night I always wear black eyeshadow and have more of a dramatic eye anyway. Except for my wedding I want to have fake lashes and strong eyeliner with more of a natural colored lid, so it will be a little change for me but nothing too different from my normal get up :)
Most days I wear lipgloss, then there are some days I wear lipgloss and mascara. If I'm actually going somewhere, I'll wear a little foundation from Bobbi Brown {so light!}, cream blush by Nars, lipgloss and mascara. If I'm going out for a date night or with the girls, I add a little liquid bronzer from Chanel {it looks like liquid gold!} to my foundation and I swipe on some cream eyeshadow from Nars and I curl my eyelashes. None of this takes me more than 10-15 minutes to put on, so I don't consider myself high maintenance. I can go from shower to door in around 30 minutes on date night. Pretty proud of that! I can go from bed to door in 15 minutes on a carpool morning...and that includes making lunch!
i originally thought i would wear alot more makeup than i do daily for the wedding...but now im thinking of just sticking with my daily routine (light powder, blush, eyeshadow and mascara) with a few extra elements like lip color and eye liner. i certainly want to look like myself--but i also want a little extra wow factor.
I usually just put a little shadow and mascara on my eyes for work, b/c if I don't I am told that I look sleepy and tired all day!! For my wedding I'm planning on pouring it on. Maybe no gunky concealer, but heavy eyeliner and mascara with blush and lipstick. I feel like anything else and I'd looked washed out in the picts.
I wash my face, then put on some moisturizer. Nobody likes the flakies! I use bare minerals foundation, then swipe some powdered bronzer on, then some blush. Then I swipe on an eyebrow pencil (mine have this weird gap where hair doesn't grow so it has to be filled or i look super crazy), a neutral eyeshadow, an eyeliner on the bottom and/or top depending on my mood and how awake i look, and mascara. Concealer IF i need it. Heavier foundation if i'm having a really bad skin day.
It sounds like a lot but i can literally throw my face on in about 5-7 minutes. I look undone if I don't wear makeup, like i just rolled out of bed and threw on clothes and went to work. I'm not high maintenance, but I look and feel better about myself when I look put together. I went to an engineering school and I pride myself on looking nice at wor, despite the fact that nobody cares or expects me to be so girly!
On my big day I'm wearing a mattifying foundation, and all of the stuff I previously mentioned, just in a slighter richer shade of browns and pinks than i normally wear, and definitely more mascara. More of a smoky brown, but not too intense so that i look like a black eye. After having my boudoir pics done, I truly realize how much you need to have on your face in person for it to translate good on camera.
Women who wear makeup statistically make more money by the way
. Of course, they probably say the same about women who wear heels...(not me!)
volleybride, don't you hate that?! What do you say, "why thanks I know i look like crap today as opposed to yesterday?"
I also have a very basic routine. I tend to stay more natural with my makeup. I use moisterizer, foundation, concealer, tiny bit of bronzer and of course lip gloass. If I didn't have any dark circles or uneven coloring of the skin I would not wear makup at all besides lip gloss / chapstick. Those are my must haves.
Ditto Lillindy.
This is why I want to hire a makeup person for my wedding day. I just wouldn't know what to do.
I have my am face and my pm face.
Usually at work it's a tinted moisturizer. Some skin colored eyeshadow and maybe mascara and lip gloss.
My friends all laugh (T does too) and say I must slip into a phone booth and do the "supergirl" change...because on goes the Bare Minerals foundation and powder, blush, my mac eyeshadow, eyeliner, use Anastasia of Beveraly Hills eyebrow powder (I have fair fair skin and brows) and lipliner with gloss (usually Buxom Lips by Bare Minerals..love it..have about six different colors of it).
I normally wear pretty much everything, and I'm OCD about my eyeshadow. Most days, I match it to my clothing. On my wedding day, however, I'll probably need help and use other products. If I'm gonna be outside, I don't want to sweat my face off, and I want to make sure the pictures look good. My makeup is very light normally (I even out the skin tone, but I don't hide my freckles)...but cameras see right through it.
My routine:
Face
Wash face, toner, then moistureizer (which is KEY!)
Primer then foundation, then set with a loose powder (or concealer on before powder for the bad days)
Eyes
during the week/days - soft eyeshadow, or even just a smudged line of eyeliner and a quick coat of mascara
weekends/nights - pops of color, black, purple and green are my favs, heavier lined eyelids (both top and bottom) and mascara, mascara mascara (dont worry I dont have those 'spider eyes')
Lips
little bit of sheer tinted gloss, once that wears off I usually just apply chapstick unless Its a night out then the gloss keeps on comin!

On my wedding day, I wore a lot more makeup than usual, mostly because I was considering how I would look in photos. In my day to day life, I have a much more basic routine: moisturizer with SPF and blush. If I'm feeling extra special, maybe mascara, and bit of powder, and some lipgloss.
What about you? What makeup do you wear in your regular life? Is it different from how you'll look on your wedding day?
