you can get white gold, but it will wear differently then your e-ring. platinum would be best
Get white gold and just move the e-ring to the other hand so they arent right next to it.
@bride2beIn2012: Okay.. what metal could I get so that I could wear them both together... I'll even take creative options. And I can't change hands around b/c my left hand is smaller than the right.
I have a lot of friends who have plat e-rings and white gold bands and you cant tell the difference on a few and others you have to look at them up close to notice.
My e-ring is platinum and my band a plain, white gold ring. I wear them together and they look fine, nobody would notice the difference.
the platinum and the white gold will wear differently over the years, but if you don't mind then you can still go that route. palladium might be a good option too.
Palladium- they have around the same color and sometimes it's cheaper than gold- depending on the market.
Thanks to all of you! I started looking at Palladium and I think I may have found my band on Etsy :)
My wedding band is 2.5mm platinum, classic fit (comfort fit is about 2x the price, even online), size 6, and we paid less than $300 for it by buying online. Check out Amazon (mine was through Amazon but actually from a seller called GoldSpeed) :)
Our jeweler quoted us over a thousand for pretty much the same band, and I almost choked on my own spit I was so surprised it would be that expensive. That's why we bought online.
@pb and j: Agreed! While white gold and platinum will look fine together now, they will definitely wear differently over time and the difference will start to be noticeable. Good call on the palladium recomendations! Sounds like you may have a winner on Etsy! I LOVE that site! :)
Palladium is probably fine. I sorta wish that's what I did. My band is 2.5 mm platinum with an engraved vine pattern (no stones) to match my platinum e-ring. It was $545 for a slim, simple size 4 (an eBay bargain -- a similar platinum band at our local jeweler was $700).
I would go with palladium (blue nile has really good prices), as it is often cheaper than white gold, even.
I have a platinum e-ring and a white gold wedding band. If you look closely (which no one besides me is ever going to do), you can tell that they are different colors (both are antiques, so the white gold is not plated anymore). It doesn't bother me at all!
I got white gold and have a platinum e ring like other bees have said and for the same reasons of cost, can't tell the difference! We got mine both from costco.com.
My wedding band will also be platinum. I looked at palladium, too, but it didn't match perfectly and I wanted the rings to be exactly the same colour. Palladium isn't too far off though and a cheaper option if you're not as fussy as me.
Honestly, they're both rhodium plated so white gold and platinum will have the exact same color. As long as you consistently plate your jewelry, you will have no problem wearing white gold alongside platinum. :)
Best wishes!
I would still go with platinum, you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life. If you get another metal, it will wear differently than the platinum.
Have you looked at online jewelry stores, such as Blue Nile, Eternity Diamonds, ID Jewelry, etc.?
Here's a 2mm platinum band for $320 - http://www.bluenile.com/wedding-ring-platinum_22

I have a platinum e-ring, but we don't want to buy me a platinum wedding ring because of the cost. What other metal will look right next to my e-ring? I just want a narrow, plain band.
