At first I was not crazy about the whole wedding web site idea, but we have so many OOTers, it was a necessity. Plus the other obvious reasons: some people don’t know me and vice versa with my fiance. Since I work for an internet company, my basic HTML know-how got me way past the free template.
Now music? Again, wasn’t loving it but then it was um, too quiet!
What did you choose as your main wedding web site song or did you decide against it?

I know a lot of people that are getting married so I made sure to pick stuff that we weren’t using for any of the dances…like our first dance song, father/daughter song, son/mother song, etc we didnt put any of those on our site cause we didn’t want anyone taking our ideas to use those songs for our wedding. So I just chose songs that reflect us on a romantic level (Keith Urban-Making Memories of Us; Kenny Chesney-Me&You; Heartland-I Loved her First; Frank Sinatra-It’s a Wonderful World, etc)

If I could have music on my website, it would be "I’m Yours" by Jason Mraz!
If it had to be a MIDI, then "Happy Together" by the Turtles

"Someone Like You" by Van Morrison. It’s the song I wanted for our first dance, but we ended up going with something else. Next best thing, put it on the website! I’ve actually gotten quite a few comments from people saying they love the song and it "makes" the site so I guess it was a good choice!

I chose "At My Most Beautiful" by REM. Us too: it’s not a song that we are using for the wedding but it represents us and the lyrics are so beautiful.
Anyone else want to share? I’m so curious!

I chose a mix I did of Mr. FF favorite island music! I use to be a merchant marine and lived on the islands over seas alot and sort of adapted that life style and it was us! But we like no traditional, happy, not slow but romantic music ( we are not picky I promise)

I guess I just learned something new! Never thought of that before. Personally, though, I often surf this stuff at work. I happen to work in a cubicle. It’s quiet in here. If I didn’t know there was music and it just popped up when I got to a website, I wouldn’t be thrilled. Can you say busted? 😉
@FPG- Merchant marine? What an interesting life!

@doctorgirl: LOL! some sites have a slidebar at the bottom but many do not. I used a cheapo web site (mywedding.com) because it really has everything I need. The music bit is a little weird – plays on the first page and then you need to click on it to have it play in the background while you’re on the other pages. Very overtly "this is our song!" so I went with something that just meshed – the tone, the lyrics (although it’s Michael Stipe – no one will ever understand them). I work for an internet company on the non-techie side but I’ve learned enough HTML and web site traffic (when do people log in? How do you make a site circular? what keeps people coming back?) that I was able to apply that to the site. It was way more work than I imagined though.
@FPG: what a great idea! Island music says so much about you as a couple – and probably what your wedding will be like.

It was he has great story’s and he got to travel so much and experience the lifestyle of living in those countries for a few months but without joining the military since they are actually contracted through the military!

yes it is how we are and how our wedding is. Even though we chose not do have a DW wedding or a beach wedding. You will see it at our wedding. Through all the small details. That is one thing we wanted was to be true to ourselves throughout the process. Even when I walk down the isle I am looking for non-traditional fun but semi-normal music! Plus I want it to be a surprise to Mr. FF

Mine doesn’t have any – I’ll be honest, music is one of my biggest web-design pet peeves. I, like many others, often have my own music playing from my computer, and it’s pretty annoying when music starts playing against your will in your web browser, clashing with whatever you already have goin’. Sure, you often have the option to mute the music, but my first inclination is to exclaim, "Gah! No!" and then navigate away from the site as quickly as possible. [/end rant aka word of caution]

We weren’t initially going to have a website either, but the majority of our guests are going to be from OOT so we kind of felt obligated to keep everyone up to speed somehow. We have John Mayer’s "Heart of Life" as the main song.

Our website is on weddingwire, and the music player is pretty clear at the bottom so it’s very obvious and easy to stop it if you don’t want it playing. What I like about the music on the site though is that it plays continually even when you go to a different page– ie the song doesn’t start over each time you go to a new page. That would drive me crazy!
