I love names. I love the history behind them. I love how different names evoke different personalities and traits. Everything. So, I’m curious as to what your ideal names are and why. These can be the children you already have or the ones you plan to have or the ones you’d have if you ever planned on having kids.
Boys: Josiah, it’s one of the more uncommon biblical names and he was a good king. Christopher Mason and Amador are both plays on the same joke that I’ve come to love. FI’s last name is Wreath and he had said if we had a kid, they should be named Christmas. Then I came up with Christopher Mason, ChristMas. Later on, thinking of other plays, I realized a name that runs in my family, Amador, is also perfect. It’s a strong name, but in conjunction, it sorta sounds like, “I’m a door” Wreath. Terrible, I know, but I love it.
Girls: Parker, like Peter Parker, Spiderman. Maridora, a combination of my grandmothers’ names, Maria and Dora. Holly, another play with Wreath, along with Navi, short for Navidad. Allegra or Allegria, I just always liked this one. It reminds me of my grandfather. He and I were both musicians and his music just brought so much joy. I think I like Allegria more because of the allergy medication.
The one name that I love, but can’t use is Rayen for a girl. I hate alliteration in names and as much as I love it, the two Rs are irreconcilable.
What are your favorite names?

I love Allegra 🙂 But FH hates it.
FH hates 95% of the names that I’ve thrown at him over the years. We finally both found one name we both like, if we have a daughter: Carmen.

My Fiance is SO picky when it comes to names. We have decided on Carter Anthony for a boy and that’s it. I LOVE the name Hadley for a girl because it means “field of heather” and Heather is my name. Fiance isn’t fond of it though. 🙁 The Anthony middle name has been used for many generations with FI’s family. I’d probably use Grace as the middle name for Hadley but there’s no meaning behind it.

Lucas or Owen (before it bacame insanely popular) for boys and Mila or Lila or Penelope for a little girl, no middle names decided yet!

For girls I like Olivia Kate, Vivienne Kate, Stella Grace, Alexandra Kate. I also like Louisa but Darling Husband isnt a fan since its very similar to his mom’sname. I also love Harper but it has become so popular and Darling Husband isn’t a fan.
For boys my husband is a third so the first baby boy will be the fourth. I also like Dominic, Luca, and Austin. There are a few other really Italian names I like but Darling Husband nixed because with our Italian last name, they sound way too ethnic to him. I haven’t really thought about boy names since its set that we will be passing on DH’s name.

We have the name Eliot Evangeline tentatively picked out for if we have a girl someday. Eliot is for the poet, Evangeline is just because we like it. I like the combo of the more androgynous first name and the super feminine middle.
For boys, we can’t come up with anything we love. Last name ends in -er, so lots of good -er ending names are out. I adore Roger, but… oh well. We like Sam and Seb and Clark, but not in love with any of those.

For girls I like: Daisy, Lovelina, Veronica, Estelle, Kylie
for boys I like: Lucas, Luke, Luca ( I see a trend here lol)

Girls: Indigo Grace, Shelby Kate, Kassidee Jade,
Boys: Lennox, Finn, Kody, Samuel,

Boys would be (in order of preference):
Xavier Blake/ Shiloh/ Danger/ TBD
Girls… well, I guess I don’t have a say as to whether I have boys or girls so, Girl Scout motto, BE PREPARED.
Some combinations (no particular order):
Emma, Grace, Allison, Penelope, Sophia, Mia
No particular reasons. I like the boy names because I think they sound… confident, but not douchey (a very important trait! lol) and the girl names… they all sound kind of posh, which makes me hesitant to like them actually but they’re the only ones/ kinds I’m drawn to.
But we won’t be TTC until after we get married (Nov. ’14 so it’s still about a year and a half away)

@HonoraryNerd: Luckily SO and I have similar tastes in nams 🙂 we like Stanley or Michael for a boy, and Lucy or Chelsea for a girl

I’m having a girl, and her name will either be Riley Paige or Peyton Paige. We really like boy names for girls, and Paige is my sister’s name. Right now Riley Paige seems to be the frontrunner for us.

My daughter’s name will be Alyssandra Renate. I read Alyssandra in a book once and absolutly fell in love with it. It just sounds so elegant and old fashioned to me, and it doesn’t hurt that my name is in it 🙂 Renate is really important to me because it is my oma’s name and we are so close and I really look up to her. My middle name is Renate and my Opa, who died, who I was also extremely close to used to call me his little Renate because I look just like her when she was my age. I have a picture of her when she was 19 in my wallet and people always ask me why I carry a picture of myself in my wallet lol. I feel like the name has really connected me to her and I want my daughter to have some connection to her as well, like we’re passing my Oma’s essence on to other generations. So my daughter will basicly be named after me and my Oma and I love that we will be connected to her in this special way 🙂
Wow that’s a lot behind this poor kids name, never noticed until I just typed it all up, I hope she won’t feel overwhelmed some day!
And Fiance and I are screwed on boys names because we cannot agree on anything!!! I hope we can come together when the time comes 🙂

My (now second) favorite name has been Everett for a really long time. I am having a boy and had to do some negotiating and came up with a name I love even more (not sharing yet).
For a girl I have always loved Natalie.
I really don’t like trendy names (my baby’s name is not in the top 100, but it is not weird at all). I also can’t believe someone plans to make naming their child a joke! Amador Wreath? A human being has to live with that. Sorry to judge, I just would never take such a light hearted and silly attitude about naming a person.

Luna Wren or Faye and Aurora Kate for girls then Theodore Noah and Leo Sebastian for boys.
@mamadingdong: it’s obvious by OP’s post that it’s just a joke she shares with her Fiance, chill out!
