We did first dance right at the beginning of reception (father/daughter dance was supposed to be after dinner but the DJ announced it right after the first dance…)  Then dinner, speeches were done when the last people got back from the buffet line – since the bridal party had mostly eaten by then.  Then a bit of dancing, cake cutting, and more dancing 🙂

The hand-passed food and bar opened as soon as the guests entered the room. We came in a few minutes later and went into our first dance, which was when they opened the buffet stations. We did cake cutting photos. No toasts or speeches, thankfully.

Songstress_7:  We are doing our first dance right after being announced into the reception.  Then we head to the buffet and grab our food before the tables get released.  Eat for a while, while Mr. S and I mingle.  Then speeches/toasts, followed by cake.  Then we do the father/daughter dance and mother/son dances, then the party starts!

Songstress_7:  Our MoH and Best Man were SO grateful that we didn’t insist on speeches. Speeches aren’t necessary unless you want them!

Songstress_7:  Our speeches were so sweet.  My MOH made me cry and my brother asked to do a speech, and my dad did an impromptu one.  It was one of my favorite parts of the day!

We did first dance upon entering the reception, then dinner, speeches, father-daughter and mother- son… followed by cake cutting a bit later.

I THINK its gonna go a little something like this:

Enter reception, little welcoming speech by us, start the buffet, during this time our MC will be keeping them entertained, when everyone has their plate, we will start the speeches with some of our bridal party who said they wanted to talk, then open it up to others, we will do first dance, parent dances and then party…dunno if we will have official cake cutting or not lol we will have cupcakes with a desset table and a tiny traditional icelandic cake that definitly not everyone will like lol

Songstress_7:  At my sister’s we did Best Man, Maid of Honor, then Father of the Bride.  We are planning to follow that same order but Mr. S’s mom wants to say something and possibly his dad (divorced) so they’ll be after my dad.

Songstress_7:  Yes, if we choose to do one.  I’m leaning that way, he’s a little more hesitant.  🙂
